  • Captivating

Piyali’s allegiance as a Queen’s agent is tested when she’s sent to a small Welsh town where she must collaborate with a former love to solve a medical conundrum. This captivating novella provides a full novel’s worth of action, suspense, and romance with complex characters and absorbing plot. I received a complimentary copy of this book, and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

  • Steampunk in Wales

Steampunk reaches a small village in Wales. A second chance romance that heats up fast as the two main characters fall in love again.

  • More story less sex

I am really enjoyed this story, but could have lived without the rather tedious sex scenes. To me they felt contrived and seemed unnecessary. Hence four stars rather than five.

  • Mystery, science and romance in a steampunk past

A fascinating meld of mystery, science and romance in an alternate steampunk past. Piyali is a young Queen's Agent, whose first assignment is to travel to a remote Welsh town to discover the cause of a young woman's blue skin lesion. This task brings her into contact with the town's pharmacist, Evan, with whom she formerly had a romantic relationship. Although this is only a novella, all of the characters, including the townspeople, are fully developed and there is more than one mystery to solve. The resolution is firmly grounded in science, but also weaves in mystical elements. The novella was enjoyable in both written and audiobook form; the narrator is excellent, even using a slight Welsh accent for some characters. I received a free copy of the audiobook via Authors Direct but am voluntarily providing my honest opinion of both the written and the audiobook version of the story

  • Short and Sweet

I’ve read a few Anne Renwick novellas and I have to say that they always provide me with a great time. This story following the two romantic leads was fun, smart, sexy, and a great book to unwind with. The story was pretty fun and it moved at a good pace, with secrets and discoveries being added to keep the tension up. I loved the chemistry between the leads and found myself rooting for their happily ever after. A great story for anyone looking for something quick, light, sweet, and romantic!
