    Totally Different a From Goonies

Great example of an author who experiments successfully with form.

    Confused, I admit

Very strange book. Really a series of short stories involving some repeat characters, but ignoring chronological order. Think you need to be in the mood because sometimes I had to skim, but at others I would marvel at the language and reread, which i seldom do. Going to go with the times I was in the mood.

    Disappointing

While the author's writing style sparkled and crackled, the story was disjointed and insubstantial. Each chapter was a vignette in a different time with a few overlapping characters. I never did come to care about any of the characters, or about their lives. I was confused, annoyed, angered. When this book won the Pulitzer Price, Mr. Pulitzer must have spun in his grave.
