A rescue and a second chance at true love.

The connection between Cole and Lauren is undeniable. But He doesn't trust witches and especially after Lauren deliberately injured him, he will not allow himself to even give her the benefit of the doubt. In spite of Lauren explaining that she injured him to save him from being killed but an evil witch, Cole will not budge an inch. Now she needs his help and she only trusts him to help her rescue a newly altered witch from the cartel brothels. Even though he doesn't trust Lauren Cole decides to help her and sees that she has more than enough good in her to make him reconsider his opinion of her. And Lauren may just be able to give her heart completely to the man she knows is her soulmate. I received an Advanced Reviewers Copy from the author for voluntary review consideration.

    Rescue Romance

Five Bridges hold inhabitants who have been infected with the alter state. Humans exposed take on persona of Witch, Wolf, or Vampire. Witch Lauren and Wolf Cole were romantically involved until an incident severed their connection. Both love starved for each other are matched to rescue a kidnapped teenager destined for eventual death. Quick short read. Second chance romance

This was a delightful trip back to Five Bridges where those who are 'altered ' have made their homes. This is a very short read and yet I'm very impressed that the author still managed to give us a complete story with angst, danger and of course romance. More often than not this series features the vampires that patrol and protect Five Bridges so I really enjoyed seeing more of the wolves that live there and thought that Cole came across as a very honourable and protective sort. I could understand his distrust of Lauren as she not only cast a spell on him but it's one that has left him permanently in pain . I think we are so used to stories that have shifters being able to easily overcome injuries and this made a very refreshing change. Lauren clearly had her reasons and has tried to get Cole to understand but it takes the kidnapping of a young woman to get Cole to agree to meet Lauren again. Can he trust her and if so where exactly does that leave them? As usual with this author it's a cracking read and fits in very well with the rest of the series. I'm particularly pleased that she has returned to the more shady dealings as I feel there's a lot of scope amongst the clubs and drug runners to extend the world building. I'm perhaps a little disappointed that we didn't get more of Coles wolf side but very happy that Lauren managed to use her witch abilities for good. This worked very well as a standalone and would be an easy entrance to this series for those who haven't yet discovered just how imaginative and sexy these books are. This voluntary take is of an advance copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

    A Wolf's Love

The alter inhabitants of the Five Bridges world has once again enthralled me with the latest short story, A Wolf’s Love number 5.1 of the Flame series. Cole and Lauren have some red hot chemistry that heats up the pages and a romance full of turbulent emotions during a rocky relationship. The romance keeps suspense building and at the same time the fast pace of the action keeps readers glued to the pages on the edge of their seats. I love the Flame series and all of its characters so the fact that I loved this story doesn’t surprise me especially because Caris Roane creates some fantastic world that all keep me riveted and wanting more. At the end of A Wolf’s Love, I only had one wish; that the story wouldn’t end so I can’t wait for my next visit to Five Bridges which is hopefully coming soon.

    A Wolf's Love

A Wolf's Love is a short story addition to the Flame series. Cole and Lauren were together, until Lauren did something that Cole couldn't accept, and he called it off. However, when a teenager is kidnapped, Cole is the one that Lauren turns to, even though he refuses to help (at first). What follows is the two of them putting another's needs before their own, and working together to save her. As with all Caris Roane's books, this is very well-written. It may only be a short story, but a full story is here. Nothing has been skimped on, instead you can settle in for a very good read. Personally, I would recommend that you start at book one, just to get the full enjoyment of the world of the Flame, but it isn't fully necessary. You 'could' read them in any order and as a standalone, but I do feel that you would miss something out of this well-developed world. With no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt my reading flow, I can highly recommend this short story. * A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. * Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!
