Sweet and charming and what I needed

This was my first foray into the Worth Saga and I will certainly be going back to Once Upon A Marquess to read more — this was a sweet and funny and honest book that made me very happy. I loved Camilla discovering that she can be loved, and Adrian’s kindnesses. There are plates that are designed, legal affairs to sort, and some delightful younger siblings I can’t wait to read more about one day.

It’s about hope and love ... wonderful tale

I received a copy of this book to read from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. After The Wedding is the second book in Courtney Milan’s The Worth Saga series. It could be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the series because they are so well written. The most important thing to know about this book is that it’s about hope and being loved for who you are, it’s going to make laugh and cry and wonder. Lady Camilla Worth was 12 years old when her father was found guilty of treason and when an uncle offered to take her in she was separated from the rest of her brothers and sisters and till this day regrets choosing lemon tarts, pretty dresses and comfort over love. She has spent the last nine years being sent from one situation to another with no one choosing her and no one wanting her. In her latest situation living with the Rector Miles she’s a half price maid of all work who is constantly being told that she has no worth, that she needs to be redeemed as she is a sinner. Adrian Hunter is pretending to be a valet at the request of his uncle Bishop Denmore who is convinced that a rival Bishop Lassiter is corrupt and wants Adrian to gather evidence for him. Adrian is hoping that if he does this his uncle will acknowledge him and his family and repair the rift created when his grandfather the duke disowned his daughter Adrian’s mother because she married a black man. I don’t want to say too much more because I will run on and recite the entire story and Courtney Milan has written such a wonderful tale that really you need to read her version only. Good characters, over-telling of the story

I really enjoyed reading about Camilla and Adrian's relationship and it growing, and developing, and them falling in love. I liked the interactions between Theresa and Benedict, and all the scenes Grayson was in. The dowager was extremely likeable the few times we saw her. The bad guys bored me; the overthinking by Camilla and Adrian bored me; The factual recounting bored me; In fact, I'll admit, I skimmed the majority of the book, only stopped at the items above that I liked But the parts I liked, I really liked. They made me smile, they made me laugh, they made me cry

    Heroine finds her backbone

I like Courtney Milan and the interesting backgrounds she gives her characters. The couple has a lot to overcome but their sincerity and kindness allow them to triumph over people who are selfish and calculating. It’s a cute read.
