  • Spy thriller, mystery, family drama in one

This series is different from the previous ones as it is more character driven, ties back to the Cold War and has a Russian protagonist, but is every bit as exciting. Max is not your typical spy - he’s tongue-tied around the ladies, sometimes overcompensates in a crisis and, as a adoptee, has questions about his birth parents. But he is an amazing driver and he has never failed in his mission to transport a detainee from point A to point B alive. Until his last mission (read the prequel 18 Minutes). Now another agency has given him a mission to retrieve a traitor from the USA and bring him back to Russia. There are all kinds of complications, hidden agendas, lies, betrayal, shocking secrets revealed, devious Russian oligarchs and plenty of action. Some questions are answered but others remain. Who is behind it all? Can’t wait for book two!

  • Brilliant with Excitement and Intrigue !!

Ethan Jones does it again. Brilliant piece of work to keep you enthused right from the start. Max is shy and quiet and then boom, he is doing things that you never expect with a continual twist. A real page turner and hard to put down. Looking forward to starting the next book.

  • Great start to a new series. One of his best!

Another great story from Ethan Jones and a great start to a new series. Fans of Jones' other series Javin Pierce and Justin Hall will love this new series. I guarantee it! Actually, I honestly believe any one who loves spy thrillers, will enjoy this book. Ethan Jones is one of the best thriller writers out there and he will keep you on the edge of your seat! This story is a little different (in a good way) than the other series, and I actually think his new hero has more depth than Justin or Javin, not that those two aren't great heros, but Max Thorne is a very well developed character. I really enjoyed this book!

This is another great series by Ethan Jones. He has yet to write something I didn't like.

  • Hits All The Right Notes

This is yet another action packed espionage thriller from a master of the genre. This is the first in the Max Thorne series which introduces us to the Russian FSB agent. I liked this alternative take on spy thrillers as we often only get to see the western agents. The ‘other side’ are always the bad guys which of course they can’t all be. There’s secrets in Max’s past that he knows little about but after a meeting with a CIA agent there are clearly people who do. This book sees Max working with very little information about a target he’s tasked with bringing back to Russia from the USA. As the story progresses we find there’s much more going on than even Max could have imagined. Ethan Jones packs a lot into this story and not wanting to spoil it I won’t say too much. There’s action all the way and some wonderfully ‘over-the-top’ action scenes that I thoroughly loved. Espionage, action, thrills and an entertaining plot all in one book written by an author with great talent and an eye for the genre. What more could you need? Very highly recommended.
