    Alex & Me

I am not a scientist but I thought for years that humans have not seen nor appreciated animals, sometimes in horrible ways. Living in eastern North Carolina, for many years it was necessary to take some back roads to drive north to visit family. One sight that has never left me is driving behind one of the trucks transporting hogs to their slaughter. It happened many times and that's still how it's done, crammed into crowded cages with no room to move. When you look into their eyes, you can see the pain and terror. Any animal, even one headed to market deserves humane treatment . Perhaps as more of the world reads books like this , looks into the eyes of animals and truly tries to see them for what they can be, if we just let them, the world could become a better place. I hope so .

    Awesome book

This was an amazing book of friendship and love for birds. The book is rich in detailed work with Alex, the bird, and offers systematic methodology of teaching concepts to Alex. The book provides a vivid description of Alex as a living and lovable being, and a treatment of birds in a respectful way. The book evokes laughter at Alex's tricks during learning trials, and tears over the loss of Alex during his tragic death. As a bird owner, I recommend this book to anyone who owns and loves birds, and also to readers in general to instill the compassion toward birds and other animals. It is a must read.

    Alex and me

A great read for everyone of us that knows all things are connected. I have enjoyed the last 30 years with my own double yellow parrot, Dude. Its a wonderful adventure together. I remember tears when I heard of your Alex passing, and I told Dude the world had lost a great mind. Thank you for your studies and research and for publishing this insightful work.
