    Sexy and Sweet!

With another winner in the Hot In the Kitchen series, this story treats us to the romance between Shane and Cara. At a bachelorette party for her sister in Vegas, meeting up with the tall dark and Irish pastry chef Shane who works for her sister's soon to be husband results in a loss of inhibitions and a new husband! Back in Chicago and living near each other, Cara insists on hiding what's happened between them, but Shane is persistent and determined to sweep Cara off her feet. Can he convince her to take a chance on him and let him show her how good a husband he can be before their annulment threatens to come through? I loved this story! This was actually the first story that I read by Kate Meader (I've since read the rest of the series) and I loved the setting. I've always been a fan of kitchen/chef romances and having the hero be a pastry chef was delightful. Both characters were interesting in that they had secrets in their pasts that they were adept at hiding, including from each other. Cara is a strong, determined woman, a no-nonsense gal with an eye for fashion and ready to take charge of any situation - except the one she now finds herself in with Shane. Shane is delicious as a hot, hungry, bold pastry chef. He wants to build up his reputation to be equal to that of his boss Jack and for reasons unknown until later, is desperate for his approval. The sexual chemistry between Shane and Cara sizzles and their love scenes are hot and emotional. But sex does not equal love and it is one thing to go from a one-night fling to a lasting relationship. Thankfully, Kate makes the development of their trust in each other believable and the romance wonderful to experience. Secondary characters are key to the story, in particular Lili and Jack ( the couple from the first in the series Feel the Heat) and the friendship and familial bonds add to the dynamics of the story. Overall I found this to be a wonderful read, warm hearted, sexy and funny in turn, with a great setting and a well deserved happy ever after ending for Cara and Shane. 5 stars!
