  • Likeable but ...

I liked the story, it was an easy read. However, two things iritated me. Firstly, the Carter family connections - how were Rebecca and her mother Carters by being Beatrices cousin? Surely Beatrice was only a Carter by marriage to Harold? Secondly, the use of Americanisms such as "guess, fix and glom" rather than "suppose, make and steal". If you are going to set your story in England you should make an effort to use culturally correct language ... even if you think you are writing for an American audience.

    Thanks for your feedback!
