    Thanks for your feedback!

This is a delightful Amish novel!

I love the main characters in this wonderful story. They are very well developed and easy to connect with. The variety of characters and the situations they are dealing with is great. I really liked the fact that Heidi needed support and encouragement from her mother. The journeys that each of the students went through with their problems was realistic and actually encouraging. They helped to remind me that no matter what problem you face scripture can uplift and guide you.

    Amish Cooking Class Cookbook

I have wanted to see how the Amish cook. I like that there are photos to go along with the recipe. Wanda starts with your utensils. Wanda gives you advice. Start with recipes for beverages. I liked breads and rolls as I just can't make breads. Are you hungry in the morning? Then these breakfast recipes! My favorites are the Sweets. I like their buttermilk cookies. You will see how to make your own buttermilk. I have another recipe that doesn't work for canning. Mine also just die. I hope you will go over this cookbook and find some recipes you like! Enjoy!

Wonderful start to a new series

I loved this book! I've been waiting anxiously to read it ever since I read it was coming out, and was so excited when I found a copy in my mailbox. It was so heartwarming with interesting characters, all totally different with needs and problems unique to them. Heidi Troyer is a young Amish woman who is unable to have children, and decides to offer a cooking class to help pass the time and make a little extra money. She has four students to sign up, and an unexpected student at the last minute. A young, pregnant, unmarried girl, an Amish neighbor who lost his wife a year ago, an engaged woman needing to learn how to cook, a young widowed mother with two young children, and an older man who is temporarily parking his old RV in the Troyer's yard. They each bring unique personalities and issues into the mix. I stayed fully engaged as they each gradually shared their problems and life experiences with the group. It was interesting to see them grow and evolve as they worked toward resolving their issues and leaning on scripture that Heidi wrote on the recipe cards she gave each student after each class. A bonus was the actual recipes in the back of the book that was taught in each session. I certainly think I'll give at least three recipes a try, maybe all. I received this book from Barbour Publishing and was not required to write a review, positive or otherwise.

    Lessons in Christ's Love

You may wonder, how can an Amish woman make money? Heidi Troyer decides to start having cooking classes in her home and be able to teach anyone who is interested how to cook and bake simple, yet filling dishes for themselves. Five people sign up for her first classes. She will provide all ingredients and recipes for all who attend. Charlene, who is engaged, but has no kitchen know-how. Loretta, a young widow with two small children, who is interested in the Amish way of life, Kendra, a young, pregnant, unmarried woman, who's best friend has given her the gift of the cooking lessons. Eli, a young Amish widower who is a good friend of Heidi and her husband Lyle-who burns boiled eggs. Ron, the Vietnam vet who is living in his motor home parked by their barn, while he fixes the engine problems. Each of these five people have their secrets and problems, as do Heidi and Lyle. Heidi uses her cooking classes to help each one to work through their problems and let them know that she cares for them and their problems and to share the gift of the Lord who can help in all things. A very good book. Easy, heartwarming read. I look forward to further books in this series by Mrs. Brustetter. Makes me wish there was an Amish lady in our neighborhood that I could take cooking lessons from.

    Wanda Brunstetter

Charming, laid back, quaint. Liked learning more about the Amish people and their ways. Also enjoyed the scripture quotes and reading the yummy recipes at the end if the book.
