    Thanks for your feedback!

This is more than just a simple witch story.

This story is told by the main character, Patience Annabel Horton. Although it is named The Lost Witch of Salem, it is so very much more than a simple tale about a witch. The story begins with the events in her life leading up to her death. She believes she will be named as a witch because of her age and her beauty. She sees a spits who, although has no shape, she begins to love him. She receives mysterious love letters. Her fears are confirmed and she is accused of being a witch. She is hung and her spirt goes to a place of nothingness, she is alone and yet not alone. Sort of like how purgatory is described. After a while she can visit earth although no one can see or hear her. As time progresses she tries to enter a child’s body and takes over it, essentially bumping the soul of the child out. She lives within the child’s body until she dies at 29. I am going to stop there because you really need to read this book to get the overall experience. This is not just a novel, it is an experience. The story itself is long and complicated. The author expertly weaves the story through time and dimensions. While the story is linear for Annabel, time is not. This a complex story dealing with human nature, our weakness and strengths, good and evil, the devil and god. The characters are well devolved and all of are flawed yet some have Redeeming qualities. It is an emotional rollercoaster. The places, scenes and characters are described in great detail. The subject matter is at time uncomfortable to read. This is a book that can be read at many different levels and the reader can glean what they want out of it. I know this book had a profound effect on me as a reader. Did I enjoy the book? I am not sure, it is one of those great reads that take time to appreciate. Did I find the book compelling? Yes. Did I feel comfortable reading it? No, this books deals with uncomfortable aspects of human nature within a religious context. I had to stop reading several times to fully absorb it. As a reader it pushed my limits. Would I read it again? Yes, I believe I will. Some books spark a change in how you view things, this is one of them. Keep in mind, this is a long book, very complex in nature and not for teenagers. Should you read it? Yes, it is an amazing work of art written by an extremely talent author. It is a gem. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
