    Funny mystery with lovable characters

This is the second book in the series and so far I've read two. It's a murder mystery as well as a romantic comedy, something that very few authors can pull off successfully. The hero of the story is Annie McCauley, a young woman from a little town in Texas who has moved to Queens so she can try to make it as a model in New York City. She is tough and tries hard at everything she does, but sometimes she is in way over her head. One of the reasons she's having so much trouble is that an even more beautiful woman hates her and keeps playing nasty tricks on her that turn out to be hilarious. She wants to get closer to handsome man of the world, Tomi Di Ponti, the owner of a cosmetics and fashion company but the harder she tries to spend time with Tomi the more she finds herself with Luther Grolsch, an ex military wild man who is handsome and sexy, but definitely not sophisticated. Annie and her friend Luis wind up being a suspects in a murder investigation and must solve the mystery to clear their names. If Annie can prove that she didn't do it she might be able to finally have some time alone with Tomi. Stolen appliances, diamonds, hit men and weird characters make this book a very fast read. Once I got started I couldn't put it down.
