4.5 stars- A sweet friends to lovers holiday short

The first book I read by Mr. Whitehall was his holiday short story from 2016. I really enjoyed that short, so I was on the lookout for any new releases by him this year and jumped at the chance to read and review this one. As the Snow Falls ended up being just as enjoyable as last year’s. A sweet friends to lovers romance, the story details Kade and Byron’s hesitant transition from long-time best friends to lovers. While the length limited how much the feelings could develop without feeling rushed or too simplistic, the author captured the chemistry and magnetism between the two men. The characters were well flushed out and though I can’t say there was a huge amount of depth to their personalities, there was sufficient backstory to understand the history and emotion underlying Kade and Byron’s first kiss so it didn’t feel like the romance jumped baselessly from platonic friends to boyfriends. With the brisk pacing, easy dialogue, and smooth narrative, As the Snow Falls made for a great afternoon read, delivering all the warm feelings Byron and Kade’s love inspired. *Reviewed for Alpha Book Club*
