    Very troubled

My favorite part of this book was the afterthought. It was so very hard to read and I wanted to stop several times. Yet it was important to see this story told and see the dangers our young woman are facing in today's culture. It was a well written book that evoked many gut wrenching emotions and although it was a difficult read because of content it is an important read for the same reason. Please read it.

Hard read, but a necessary read

This is probably the most believable fiction I’ve ever read. Louise O’Neill doesn’t do any sugar coating in this book. She shines a light on rape culture, consent, and how women are viewed in society, and forces the reader to really look at this. “Asking For It” is hard read but one you can’t put down. It’s sad how relevant this still is today. Writers like Louise can help change societal attitudes, by writing about tough subjects and not being afraid to keep these conversation going. You should read this book.

    Gut wrenching truth

This book has a rather bleak outlook on rape and is inevitably filled with the truth of trauma. I would recommend this to be read by men and women alike - anyone who has ever once said she was "asking for it". However I'd avoid this as the entire book should come with a trigger warning. It can definitely reopen old wounds with its words.
