    Loved it

I enjoyed every bit of this book. The snark from the different characters is just as much fun as in Lexi's other books. You will laugh, shake your head at their stubbornness and cheer them on to their hea.

    Loved It!

***ARC Provided by the Author and InkSlingerPR*** This series is just fun. Each one of them has been great and while they are a series, each one has managed to feel like a totally different story in the same world. Juliana and Javier work together and she is trying to put her life back together after an injury. I love that she is not "perfect" and I love that she is not necessarily the stereotypical heroine of a romance story. Sometimes stories and characters appeal to me for different reasons, and I think this is true for everyone...and the idea of a heroine who isn't perfect, well, I loved this. As always, the writing and the relationship were strong and compelling. You like the characters, and the secondary characters added to the story in interesting ways. I recommend this title.

    A flip on the norm

I don't know how it happened, but I think Eric got it right when he thought Javi had been switched out for a pod person, that the resident, unrepentant, completely okay with it, man-whore, falls for a lady, and she doesn't want anything to do with him. More so, she is the veteran in the story, and she is the one who war changed irrevocably. She is also a lefty, which I think is the best "y" to be, but that is a personal preference Top staff is at it again, and with a twist, as a leading lady has all the baggage and angst. Javi is confused, he has never had to woo anyone before, and his boss and peers have a lot of fun with that at his expense. Things all work in the end, and I really liked the pace and how this story unfolded. It was different and felt really fresh I also am so freaking happy that the Siren world and the McKay Taggart world can start to intercept and overlap and look so forward to Julien and Ian in the same scene!!!!

    Awesome story

*Disclaimer: I received an eARC of this book from InkSlinger PR in exchange for an honest review. This does not influence my rating or the content of my review in any way. The newest story in the world of the Masters and Mercenaries, and the spin-off series, Top, is just as good as expected, if not more. Juliana is a really brave, awesome heroine. I love how she helps Javier, even though she had nothing to gain from it. There's a great thing that Blake does with Juliana's character, and it's the thing we all do, which is to take advice that we don't follow ourselves. It's interesting to see exactly how Jules is dealing or not dealing with the fact that she's missing a hand, and also how she knows just what to say to Javier when faced with his brother's injuries. I loved seeing that in her. I truly respect her, and the progress she made by the end of the book was phenomenal. I loved seeing that, the growth she had, going from accepting what happened to her, and adapting, to dealing with her past. Javier is a truly great guy. In his case, I loved seeing how he goes from playboy to a one-woman-guy, and see how Sean Taggart helped him realize what he needed to do in order to get the girl. I also thought it was really sweet of him to do what he did to help Juliana. Sure, he kind of stuck his foot in his mouth (okay, more like both of his feet), but I understood that. He's a pretty selfless guy, and I truly felt sorry that he had to deal with his brother alone. But as I was saying before, he does something amazing for the woman he loves, and it was simply the greatest thing ever, even though he didn't know how to express it the right way. Anyway, it was a great thing and I loved him for it. I have to talk a little bit about Javier's brother, Rafe. He's a man who has to deal with what happened to him while he was serving his country, and as much as he knows just how to push everyone away from him, he is also a guy who craves connection to someone, he just doesn't know how to accept it in his current situation. I also liked that, as much as Javier hated him for it, Rafe gave his brother a little dose of honesty. I do hope that in the future Rafe will find the strength he needs to deal with his issues in a healthy manner, and that he'll find himself again. The pace is, as usual, great, and the story kept me hooked from beginning to end. There were sad scenes, there were hot scenes, and there were insanely funny scenes as well. Also a glimpse of my favorite couple ever, Ian and Charlie. As already expected from a Lexi Blake story, I adored this book, and I cannot wait for the next one to come out. In the meantime, I feel like a reread is in order.

A great addition to the series

I will be honest and admit that this is one of my all time favourite series and truth be told when I get a chance to review a Lexi Blake book I will always jump at the opportunity. Javier Leones is a chef at Top and commonly known as a ladies man or man whore. He is extremely attractive, always dashing and totally alpha male and hot. He is heavily into BDSM and as such is also a Master at Sanctum. Javier is attracted to Juliana O'Neil who works as a hostess at Top. She is a veteran who lost her dominant hand while on deployment. Although she is moving through life, it is more just going through the motions. It isn’t until Javier explodes into her life that she realises just how much she has been hiding away. Ironically she decides she wants a one night stand with Javier and no one is more surprised than he when he realises that Juliana is “the one” and he decides to pursue her. He is madly attracted and drawn to her, despite the sadness that surrounds her; he vows to bring her back into the light even if she doesn’t want to be. I have always loved the character of Javier and it was wonderful to see him get his HEA with Juliana, who really is the perfect match for him. There is drama, smoking hot scenes and a few tear jerking moments ( as Javier’s brother struggles with being a double amputee) and as always although not a particularly long read, it was as I have come to expect from Ms. Blake, entertaining and extremely well written. Although this book can be read as a stand alone, I think you would get more enjoyment if you were to start at the beginning and work your way through the magic that is Masters and Mercenaries.
