  • Absolutely Marvelous

Loved it, loved it, loved it! I read the French version. I laughed out loud in the subway! Could not stop reading. So real.

  • Great book.

Really enjoyed this book. Felt bad for the lead character but she managed in the end and came out on top.

  • A cheeky peek into one woman’s mid-life chaos.

I very much enjoyed this quick read (add this to your summer reading list) which was one of our book club selections. As we witness Diane’s (the main character) life crumble around her, she becomes unhinged - but with a cheeky, devil-may-care attitude that will make you laugh out loud. The author does a terrific job of pulling you into the chaos, with a straightforward writing style, leaving you wondering what Diane will do next. And while the story ends positively, Diane’s life isn’t completely wrapped up with a red bow, and I appreciated being able to muse at the unanswered questions. I haven’t read the original French version but I believe this translation was terrifically done.

  • Light, funny but forgettable

I thought it was a light and mostly funny book about a tough subject. But I feel it was just a surface scratch. I wonder if the French version would have been different. The author’s style is light and funny. In the end, it is forgettable.

  • Laughed and Cried

This book was so funny but turned one inside out as laughter is so close to tears. Snippets of one’s own life are echoed in the pages. One is drawn to the excruciating pain of a marriage breaking up contrasted with the total joy of one’s children. Then there are the enduring nature and nurturing of friendships that help us as women get through it all. Loved this book!
