    Barefoot With A Bodyguard

I really loved the fast pace, the action, and the romance in Barefoot With A Bodyguard. Kate and Alec seem to be complete opposites, forced into a situation neither of them want to be in, but they make a great heroine and hero. Kate wants to answer to no one, and definitely not be bossed around by yet another man. If the situation she found herself in was organized without her knowledge, I would have found her attitude a bit annoying. However, her character and the way she was fit perfectly with the plot. I really liked Alec. He is a hero with a past that haunts him, and he doesn't feel worthy of anyone, let alone a woman like Kate. I just really liked who he was, what he stood for, and how he was. He is a character that easily worked his way into my heart! Surprising to them both, they are very drawn to each other and they have serious chemistry together! Both of them just want to go back to their own lives, but the danger is very real. I couldn't wait to see how life would work out for Kate and Alec, and the changes it might mean for both of them whether they were together or not. Roxanne through in some interesting and unexpected surprises and twists to an already well developed plot that kept me immersed in Kate and Alec's story. The secondary characters are fantastic and really have a lot to add to Barefoot With A Bodyguard. I really liked finding out a bit more about the mysterious Gabe, and can't wait to find out more about him! His grandfather Nino is also a strong secondary character who adds a whole other dimension to the story. The setting is one I can easily feel like I'm in, and Roxanne's descriptions of the place and the people are vivid. I will definitely be reading the next book in this series, and would recommend Barefoot With A Bodyguard to any reader who likes a well blended mix of suspense and romance between the pages.

    Loved it

We're back in Barefoot Bay but with a whole new cast of characters that bring some pretty exciting suspense, mystery and adventure with them! In this book we have Alec Petrov, highly successful MMA fighter but after being recognized by a Russian mobster has decided to take a job as a bodyguard and live completely off the grid. He's protecting Kate Kingston by posing as her new husband. Kate, fresh out of a bad marriage and studying to take the bar exam, just wants a little peace and quiet while hiding away from the threats coming into her father's office. When she meets Alec she soon realizes peace and quiet are the last thing she is going to find. Loved this one! Far different from the other "Barefoot" stories but a great mix of that series with the "Guardians" and Bullet Catchers series. If you enjoy a great romantic suspense then this one is for you! I highly recommend it.

    Romance at its best

Barefoot with a Bodyguard by Roxanne St Claire A contemporary romance with a bit of suspense in the Barefoot Bay series by Roxanne St Claire. It can be read without having read any of the previous books. A delightful and satisfying, slightly steamy novel. Alec Petrov has been running from the Russian Mafia for much of his life. He has a bounty on his head and a distinct tattoo on his hand that makes it impossible to effective hide from the public. Kate Kingston has been receiving violent letters threatening her life and must hide out while the police track down the threats. Together, under the new private security company owned by Gabe Rossi, Alec and Kate pose as a newlywed couple staying in an exclusive island resort in Florida, effectively providing cover for each other. Poor Alec has been on the run for a long time and seems to have had no love or even much self-respect for most of this life. His own father sold him to the mafia when he was only thirteen. He hates his hands because of their large size and can't find any worth in his life. I'm so glad that Kate sees him for the good man he really is. And she teaches him to see it as well. This was an awesome and satisfying romance. I received a copy of this book from the author.

    Back to Barefoot Bay

Alec has been running from the Russian mob for a long time. Kate doesn't really think she needs to run from some crazy guy that has been threatening her and her father. They are put together in a "safe house" at Barefoot Bay. She tries everything to get her father to change his mind about putting her in this place with such a beast for a bodyguard. Alec can't believe that he has to be a bodyguard for such a smarty pants. They both find out that looks aren't everything.

LOVED IT, Romantic Suspense at its BEST.

I love Roxanne St Claire's Barefoot Bay and could not wait for this, the first book in the new series to be released and I can honestly say I was not disappointed and it was well worth the wait. Once again you are kept turning the pages as you are drawn into the story. Gabe Rossi has started a new business protecting people the witness protection can not help, he helps these people fall off the radar for a while, whilst whoever is threatening them can be found. He has the help of his grandpa Nino, who is a very lovable old man, who needs to be needed and Poppy the head cleaner - who sees and hears everything. Gabe's first clients are Kate Kingston, who's father is a judge and he is receiving threats about his daughter and Alec Petrov, a man who is wanted by the mob, so needs a new identity. Kate is now a very strong willed woman, after coming out of a bad divorce from a controlling ex husband she just wants to come to the island to be alone and study for her Bar exam, she knows someone is threatening her but not the extent of the threats so when she arrives at her villa and finds Alec there- her bodyguard, she is very unhappy and does not want to stay, certain things are explained to her that she is Alec's cover as well and she agrees to the arrangement. Gabe's rules are that they are not allowed to tell each other anything personal about each other, they even don't know each others real names, on the island they are Ben and Tilly Carlson - newlyweds on their honeymoon, because knowing certain information can put them in danger. But Kate is not very good at following rules and seeing as she is learning to be a lawyer she interrogates Alec and he ends up letting his first name slip - now she knows how to get the info she wants to know. Alec is a mixed martial arts trainer who's soul is battered and bruised, and even though he is attracted to Kate he feels not worthy of her, so he is unable to hold eye contact with Kate for long as he thinks all she sees is a beast. Kate thinks Alec is beautiful and she is hurt that he can not look at her so the misunderstandings that happen because of this just makes it great to watch these two characters fight their attraction and fall in love. I loved everything about this story, the setting, the characters, and the background stories. The interaction between Nino and Poppy made me laugh, as they are both strong characters and the twist in the story line kept me hooked till the end. Congrats Roxanne St Claire on another page turning, must read. I would recommend before reading this book that you read Barefoot Bound, which is the prequel to Barefoot with a Bodyguard, in this you learn how Gabe ends up in Barefoot Bay and his new operation.
