Beauty and the Beast Werewolf style

This is the 2nd book in the San Francisco Wolf Pack series. This book was much better than the first. A lot more depth, emotionally as well as story wise. Isabelle Connelly's character is caught between a rock and a hard place; one being her Alpha wolf father whose battle with a rare form of cancer is coming to an end and the other Jack MacGrath, a reclusive lone wolf with no Luminary mate, so his lifespan is just about up. She has trained all her life to take over the pack. But her passion has always been her art, something that her father never appreciated nor encouraged. Her successful secret life as the artist Bella Nola is unknown to most. It's her last chance to show her true self to him. So she plans a private showing of all of her works and is now tracking them down to add to her display. Jack has spent the last 20 years staying high on adrenalin just so he can add on a bit more time. His love for art has been a source of comfort especially the works of Bella Nolan. He has 12 in his collection, the last one won in a bidding war between him and Isabelle. But a single touch gives him back the hope he had lost of finding his Luminary. In spite of the obvious attraction and the possibility of love Isabelle's loyalty to her pack is unshakeable and she refuses to even consider a mating. The MacGraths and Connellys are rivals, enemies even and her father will never give his consent for their mating even if it dooms Isabelle's fate to the same one Jack is currently facing. LOVE Jack MacGrath!!!

Before her father dies, Isabelle Connelly wants to show him all her paintings and maybe he'll accept her passion for creating art. She's bought back all but 12 of her paintings. She travels to San Francisco for an auction that includes one of them and gets into a bidding war with Jack MacGrath. Her whole life she's heard of the feud between the Connellys and the MacGraths. Who knew life could be so cruel as to make them fated mates. Every time Jack had dizzy spells, blackouts or shaking spells, I held my breath. He waited so long for her and she didn't want him. All she cared about was getting her father's approval. And Neil? I was starting to think that he wanted her for himself. This is a great werewolf story full of tradition, acceptance (in more ways than one) and romance. A very enjoyable read! Received a copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated for my review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed is my own.

    sexy and entertaining shifter romance!

This was a very enjoyable shifter romance with a unique storyline. I liked that Isabelle was an accomplished artist and used her talents to paint werewolves, not shying away from her heritage. She has a legacy to carry on as the alpha in waiting for her pack, a responsibility that she doesn't take lightly. When she falls in love with Jack, it's a disaster, as he comes from a pack that has a very poor reputation (which he is trying to fix) and one her father won't approve of. Jack is dying, and needs Isabelle to bond with him to save his life, but he is loyal and unselfish and won't do anything that will cause her harm. Both characters were interesting and had a great sexual tension between them, resulting in some steamy love scenes. The world building was light but appropriate to the plot. It was a quick and entertaining read. 4 stars.

    Kristin Miller does it again!

Isabelle Connelly, from the Irish Wolf Pack, has hidden form her father Gerard that she is an artist who goes by the name of Bella Nolan. Gerard Connelly didn’t think her daughter should indulge in frivolous pastimes as she is destined to become Alpha after his passing, and he has always frowned on her artistic passion. Unfortunately Gerard is deathly ill, and Isabelle has decided before it’s too late to gather all her paintings and show them all to her father. She hears of an auction in San Francisco where one of her paintings will be up for grabs, and she flies from Dublin to America. What she didn’t know was that Jack MacGrath would also try to buy the same painting. The MacGraths and the Connellys have been enemies for centuries because of some Connellys’ shady dealings over the years. Jack MacGrath is dying. He’s past the 300 years’ limit for a werewolf to be without his life mate, and all the money in the world can’t change that. Until he sees Isabelle; he knows right away that she is the one, but Isabelle doesn’t seem to feel it… BEAUTY AND THE WEREWOLF is the second instalment of the San Francisco Wolf Pack, and can definitely be read as a standalone. Ms. Miller crafts another lovely romance, lighter on the paranormal in certain ways this time although Jack’s issue is pivotal to the plot. The author innovates again on the theme of the life mate, and it could have been creepy, Jack could have pressed Isabelle, but this is not how Ms. Miller works, thank goodness! The characters are engaging, the romance is entirely believable, and it is heart-wrenching to experience Jack’s ordeal, and issues are resolved logically. Kristin Miller has penned another fine paranormal romance! I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

    Beauty and the Werewolf

Jack McGrath is in trouble – his time is running out and the answer to his prayers just happens to be his enemy in this tantalizing paranormal romance. Isabelle Connelly is torn between her duty to her family and her perfect fated mate and the reader can’t help but be drawn into the story as the pressure builds and forces her to make a choice. The attraction between Isabelle and Jack smolders with vibrant intensity throughout the story with some sizzling sex scenes but the emotional turmoil packs quite a punch as the relationship is doomed in the face of traditions and duty which captures the reader’s hearts (in my case in favor of Jack). The characters are strong, compelling and claim the reader’s attention from the very beginning while the fast paced, smooth flowing plot captivates readers with lots of suspense, turmoil and romance. The suspenseful situation keeps readers on pins and needles to the very end building lots of excitement throughout the story and has the readers ready to reach into the story and remedy the situation – I certainly wouldn’t mind being Jack’s Luminary, he’s suave and has bit of a bad boy air with a heart of gold and I really wanted to hate Isabelle at a couple of points in the story I just couldn’t because I could understand where she’s coming from and it takes a strong woman to do what she did (sorry no hints). Vivid imagery brings it all to life and really makes it easy to get caught up in the story as the well written scenes draws the reader in and refuses to let go. Once again, Kristin Miller has penned a deliciously suspenseful and romantic tale that held me hostage until the very end and I can’t wait for another visit with the San Francisco Pack.
