    Because of you

This was my first read from this author. A very dark beginning of the book, but very strong story nonetheless. Story is told from a lot of point of views. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

    Second chance romance

Because of You is the second chance story about Blake and Emerson. They were college sweethearts, but after the death of Em’s best friend, Piper, they drifted apart. I loved how we are introduced to a lot of the characters that live on Drake Isle and hopefully we’ll be reading more about them in future books. I won’t leave any spoilers, but I will say I loved how the town came together, when Em really needed them. Everyone should be so lucky to live in a town where you’re thought of as family. Excellent first book in a new series

I received a feee ARC from the author to leave an honest review. This is the first time I have read this author and I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Its a story about Blake and Emmerson who were college sweathearts until an unfortunate accident changed the course of their life. Blake comes from money and is under his father's thumb although he has tried to be his own man. Emerson has no famiky has she lost her mother years ago. She is struggling to make it on the island and run a successful yogo studio. One stupid lapse in judgement might have cost her the loss of her building none other than to Blake's company. Blake will need to decide what he wants more his father's approval or to try to win back the only woman hehas ever loved.

    Great read

"Because of You" by Allie Boniface was one of my favorite reads this year. It is an extremely smooth, captivating, well-written story that follows Emerson (Emmy) Doyle and her former boyfriend Blake Carter. Blake and Emmy were headed for marriage during their years at Misterson College at the south end of Drake Island, just off the Massachusetts coast. Then, a week before graduation, Emmy's best friend, Piper, died from a fall from the room of the fraternity house where Blake was president. That event broke the tight bond between the two and sent them in different directions. Love has its way, of course! When Blake returns to Drake Island intent on buying the building Emmy owns and uses for her business as well as residence, the two are reunited. What I loved about this book was the smooth way Ms. Boniface mixed memories from earlier college days with the present time. It accentuated for me the "success vs. failure" debate going on inside Emmy who is deeply in debt and sees no way of keeping her property and growing business. It reminded me in a way of the debate inside George Bailey in the classic "It's a Wonderful Life." Of course, Emmy has none of George's wish that she had never been born, but she does begin to question everything that has happened in her life. Needless to say, Ms. Boniface did a wonderful job spinning this tale and tying up all loose ends with a satisfying conclusion.
