    Shockingly twisted.

Behind Her Eyes is an extremely engrossing read, once you’ve gotten to know the characters. This is a story about three people: Adele, David, and Louise. Adele is obsessively in love with and married to David. David and Louise, who are mad for each other, are carrying on a sordid affair behind his wife’s back. As if this wasn’t complicated enough, Adele and Louise are new best friends. In a love triangle, only 2 people can win. Sarah Pinborough is a new to me author. Psychological thrillers are not my usual genre to read and I’m slowly branching out to reading authors from other countries. That being said, this book was slow to read at the beginning. I’m not used to reading books written from multiple points of view. You read from the perspective of both Adele and Louse. You also get flashbacks to Adele’s past. Once I got a feel for the characters, I couldn’t put it down. I had to keep reading to find out how everything unfolded. Behind Her Eyes reminded me a bit of Gone Girl, in that the main character is smart and has been planning for the end game meticulously. Your feelings towards her completely flip flop by the end of the story. Oh my goodness what an ending. I had to read the final chapter twice. I received ARC of this book. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.

Good summer read with twisted twists!

I liked the main character (Louise) and the twists, but I didn't like the writing style; too much information is obviously stated/repeated and there's a "chick-lit" flavor. Overall, it's a fast-paced and fun summer read. Please, keep an open mind to appreciate the twists!

Very twisty story! Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen, I was wrong. Highly recommend.

    Suspenseful

I chose this book from a book subscription service. Thrillers are one of my favorite genres and the premise of the story is what grabbed my attention. Behind Her Eyes does have the suspense element going for it; however it takes a while for it to come to fruition. The beginning of the book tends to move by slow with the introductions to the characters, but towards the middle that’s when the story begins to pick up. One of my main grips with the story is the introduction between David and Louise is never shown. That’s one of the main factors mentioned in the blurb, yet the bar scene with them is never shown, instead we just get a recap of it from Louise. Moving onto the characters, Adele is the one who brings the mystery to the story. She’s the one who keeps the story moving. Throughout the book, you’re questioning whether she’s a victim or if she’s a master manipulator. As for David, much like Adele, he also has that mysterious factor about him. As details of his relationship with Adele are told, you’re left wondering what his motive is. Now, Louise is considered sort of the main character, the one stuck in the middle of Adele and David’s marriage. At the start, I liked Louise’s character, I felt for her in her struggle as a single mom. Yet, about halfway through I began to loathe her character due to her questionable actions. The ending of the book gives you a plot twist that will shock you. While it may seem corny to some, it did have a creepy factor to it. Behind Her Eyes does deliver with the suspense you expect of a thriller, yet the overall plot of the story could use some tuning.
