    Best of the series!

I have to say that Lia Riley hit it out of the park with this one!!! I absolutely adore Wilder. With his gruff exterior and the pain from his accident, he learns to move on with Quinn. I really loved her quirkiness and the way the love of books comes into play! I thought Archer and Edie were my fave out of the couples but Wilder and Quinn take the cake. We also get to see Sawyer and Annie in this story. You get to see family come together at a time of need and that was such an amazing part of the book! Quinn is such a fearless leading lady that stands up for herself and Wilder takes notice fast. She knocked down his walls that he had built up and their chemistry was explosive! These two played very well off each other and had great banter so the book flowed seamlessly to the point I couldn't put it down. The more books I read by Lia Riley, the more she is becoming one of my fave authors out there! Her books are quirky, fun and unique and bring something different to the table each time. This one was just that. If you have followed the series, I highly recommend continuing on with the final book! Wilder is beyond amazeballs!

    Make no mistake

This is book # 3 in the Brightwater series. As usual, I recommend reading this book in order as the author intended. It is for your benefit, and understanding of what occurs inside the story. This book can be a standalone, but is much more fun if read in order. Wilder and Quinn met when she came to his home looking for her father. He had previously only communicated with her by email. Now they meet face to face and are instantly attracted to one another. Wilder has been away from home for a long time. The past chasing him away from his hometown. Now back as what he believes to be a broken man in body and spirit. He is trying to survive from day to day. Quinn, not knowing if she has a future worth living - takes care of her dad and works at the local bookstore. She has moved home after a lousy boss ruined her job. Together, these two could make fire. When in the same room, the sparks they are a flying. I loved the banter! Every character makes you love the book more. Best of the series yet. I cannot wait to see the next installment!! ***This ARC copy was given by edelweiss and its publisher for review purposes only.

Loved it shows the true meaning of love

This is the first in the Brightwater series I have read, I totally loved it. The author put heart and soul in this very touching read of love, hurt and pain as she shares the secrets of this small town and its people. I adored Wilder with all he had to deal with as well as Quinn and the whole Kane family kept me laughing. I love small town romances you can't get away with much without the whole town knowing about it. Ms. Riley gives you a wonderful town with outstanding characters that make you want to share their tears and laugh right along with them. This is a fun loving romance with no drama. Each character has their share of pain as they learn to grow and overcome their past, their pain, learning to start a new life and build on it. Wilder has much to be upset about and lots of things to forget. His Smoke jumping days are over after a tragic accident. Once you read his story knowing what he has hidden for many years you come to understand why he spent his life saving others as well as the land from fires. His story will break your heart as he pulls inside his self hiding from the rest of the world. I just love him, he really is strong, caring and a loving man. He just needs the right women to pull him out of his funk and bring him back to life hopefully returning him to his family finding the love he once had. Quinn is a lovely lady who I guess is hiding a little as well. She works in a book store as she helps her father deal with his illness. Wilder gets her attention from the very first even before she meets him. Once they meet she refuses to be put off or let his bullheaded ways get in her way of finding the true man. Quinn is a fun loving lady who will keep you smiling as she takes on the big bad man who thinks he just wants to be left alone. She makes him face facts and shows him there might be more to life than he thought. In return she just might find out that the issues she is dealing with can be overcome if you have the right man. When these two get together they butt heads and tempters raise as they find they have more in common than they thought. The author gives you wonderful supporting characters you are so going to love all the way from the brothers to the sassy grandmother as she takes her family back and gives some attitude of her own. This is one author who knows how to keep you laughing but reaches into your heart as she gives a story of so much sorrow and pain. I loved that the story was built on family with no drama just a wonderfully well told story of people you can relate to living normal lives. These characters are flawed and broken as they make mistakes coming around to face them and learning to build from them. I loved this author's humor as she tells a wonderful story which pulls you in and keeps you turning the pages. She throws in a little mystery as well as some very heated scenes, when the passion takes off it does so in color. Ms. Riley does an amazing job of bring the reader and the characters together as she builds her story full of surprises that you won't see coming. You will set there with your mouth open thinking OMG. If you are looking for a story of what true love is about this author does an amazing job of showing you how easy it is to tear a family apart and just how to bring them back together. She gives you a story of family and true love that overcome the worse odds to become a true family again. I really recommend you give this story and author a chance. From looking over her other books this is an author you will want to get to know as she fills her pages with what love truly means.

    My favorite of the series

I really love this series and how different each of the brothers' personalities are, but I think that BEST WORST MISTAKE is my favorite so far. Quinn and Wilder are like two pieces of a whole finally connecting and fitting together. Why? Because Quinn is light to Wilder's dark and challenges him to live life to the fullest, something he hasn't done in a long time and it doesn't hurt that they have some many shared interests. Because they needed each other to quench the desire to belong to someone. Wilder Kane has always been the black sheep of the Kane family and when his smoke jumping career was cut short due to tragedy, he returned to the one place he did not plan on returning to - his hometown of Brightwater, California. In keeping with his black sheep persona, Wilder retreated into himself and became a recluse living in seclusion but all it takes to throw his world upside down is a sassy and talkative bookworm. Quinn Higsby left the bright lights of Hollywood behind for the pristine beauty and small town charm of Brightwater when her handsy boss cost her her job. Being in Brightwater is bittersweet for her because she loves the relaxed pace of Brightwater, enjoys her job at the book store and has fond memories of vacations spent with her father here but his declining health and what it means for her have her concerned. Wilder Kane is just the distraction she needs with his gruff and curmudgeonly exterior that hides a heart of gold as well as painful and haunting secrets. But with Quinn's own worries hanging over her head, is getting involved with Wilder a smart choice? And with an arsonist on the loose, can she find happiness with Wilder? Or will their relationship crash under the combined weight of their issues? I enjoyed Quinn's character so much, the way her mind works and also how she says almost everything that goes through her mind, but most of all I love that she was able to see that under Wilder's grouchy exterior beat the heart of a man longing for a connection. The tragic end to Wilder's career is enough to elicit sympathy for him but the weight of the burden he's carried and the penance he's paid for so long are heartbreaking. I love that in spite of hits he had taken from life, Wilder didn't give up on himself and also didn't give up on Quinn and most of all, I enjoy that their relationship was without drama. This is a really sweet story with dialogue that had me chuckling and having the siblings reconnect and support one another through everything is one of my favorite things about this book. Ms. Riley has done a great job with the series so far and I really hope that she adds more books to the series because inquiring minds want to know what the deal is between Kit and Goldie. Cute

Of course my habit of buying a book without research has gotten me here into this book.... number 3. Even with being a little lost when other characters from previous books being mentioned the story was still good and flowed well enough for me to understand what was happening. I like that there is someone who can bring another out of the dark. That no one is truly lost as long as there is someone willing to search. Even though Wilder is at his lowest he knows when he should be present. If not for Quinn he'd have been lost plenty of years ago. She has played a part in his life more than once and more than she realizes. I like that Quinn was a chatterbox. Because when someone is feeling low i fell like someone who is so full of life bleeds that into the other person and that's what Quinn did. Overall this was a good read having fallen into my lap already a good ways into the series
