Great world, just had a hard time with the romance

A colorful cast of characters bring Silver Town to life and I like the world that Terry Spear has created. Although Brett and Ellie were great characters and ultimately were a great couple, I did have a hard time with the way their story played out. There are quite a few things going on in this story that circle around Brett and Ellie. There are ghosts, there are some shared sexy dreams, there are a trio of cousins who are ghost busters, and there are two families of wolves who are very protective of one another and a town who rallies around their own. I think my main issue with this book was the way Ellie went about “testing” if she and Brett were supposed to be together. She was very cavalier about dating other wolves and not trusting that those shared sexy dreams meant that they were meant for each other. I get that mating means mated for life, but knowing that the sexy dream thing runs in Brett’s family (his cousins found their mates that way) it just rubbed me the wrong way that she would do that to him. And the fact that Brett is an alpha werewolf and he didn’t get a bit more adamant about her not dating other wolves…well it just didn’t make sense to me. The other thing that kind of got in the way was the appearance of Ellie’s cousins, the ghost hunters. They seemed to be more of a diversion me than adding to Ellie and Brett’s story. Between the ghost in the hotel and Brett’s grandmother, there was enough ghost stuff going on that I felt the cousins took just a bit away from Ellie and Brett. What I did like was the world that Terry Spear has created and the community of the Silver Town. There were a lot of great characters that were worked into the story and I just loved that small town feel they gave this book. And I loved the scenes of Ellie’s dates where the pack just so happen to be having lunch at the same time and same place as her dates! And other than putting up with Ellie’s dating nonsense, I did love Brett – he was everything you’d want in a werewolf mate! Although I didn’t love this book, there’s enough about the world that I do think I’ll be checking out others in this series. The writing and dialogue were great and even though there wasn’t a lot of heat, there was enough tension and romance to make up for it. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy from the publisher via NetGalley of this book.

    Loved It

Review For: 'Between a Wolf and a Hard Place' 'Between a Wolf and a Hard Place' by Terry Spear is book 21 in the "Heart of the Wolf" series. This is the story of Brett and Ellie. I have been jumping in and out of this series so for me this was a standalone book. I will say that it appears that Brett and Ellie met in another book but they have moved forward in their relationship other than a few dates before this book. Ellie and her sisters have opened a hotel in Silver Town. This hotel Ellie has found that they are ghost in the hotel. Ellie is able to talk to and see ghost which has caused her to loose relationships in the past. So she is worried that Brett won't be able to take her ability to see ghost. Brett knows that Ellie is hiding something and would like to know what that is. Brett is highly attracted to Ellie and hopes that she might be his mate. Loved watching these two come together and learn to trust/Love.*A Book Obsessed Chicks Review Team Selection*

Between a Wolf and a Hard Place - I enjoyed it!

"Between a Wolf and a Hard Place" by Terry Spear. Book 21 in the Heart of the Wolf series. Book 7 in the Silver Town Wolf series. I just finished reading this book August 16, 2017. This is my review. I really enjoyed this book about Brett and Ellie. Very sweet and endearing. The books in this series are more loving romance than hot and heavy romance, focusing on the relationship more rather than the physical. You really feel the love between Brett and Ellie and their journey to mating is beautiful. Throw in a ghost and a mystery about Brett's Great-Aunt and you have a really fun and intriguing story. Brett Silver has been in love with Ellie MacTire since she moved to town with her sisters a year ago and bought a hotel to renovate. And she kicked him out for trying to help and being in her way! He's been taking his time trying to court her. He didn't want to come on to strong and scare her away. He knows Ellie is his mate because he's been dreaming about her every night. And he's pretty sure she's dreaming of him too. The only problem is Ellie believes in ghosts and he doesn't. She's also denying that they're dream mated. So what does Brett do? The dumbest thing ever...and tells Ellie to date other wolves and see if she dreams about them instead of him! Ellie MacTire is having a problem. When Brett Silver donates a baby grand piano that belonged to his Great Aunt to her hotel, she didn't think the ghost of his aunt would come with it! She and her sisters now have two ghost haunting their hotel...and just before the hotel opens for the season. Besides dealing with ghosts, Ellie is also dreaming about Brett every night. He's courting her big-time but she just can't commit if he doesn't believe ghosts exist and that she has the ability to see and talk to them. Their physical attraction is undeniable but how can they have a relationship if he doesn't believe what she's saying most of the time? Such a cute story. Ellie and Brett are really likable and have great chemistry together. The story flows well and the descriptions are clear and vivid. Not a lot of action in this book but the mystery about Brett's great-aunt is interesting. The situational humour is great. Most of the scenes when Ellie is "dating" made me snicker. Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
