    Sometimes love isn't enough

Grayson Crawford has had a hell of a time over the last year. Hiking in the woods he responded to the voices of women screaming for their lives. Arriving at the point of origin he found one woman dead and a woman and small child being attacked by what appeared to be a monster. And a monster it was – for a feral wolf had attacked. A feral werewolf. Attacking, Grayson drove off the monster then fled into the woods. For the next six months, he was totally and completely alone – except for the overwhelmingly alpha wolf who lived inside him. I reviewed that story, the first in the series, Silver Wolf Clan, Book 1, back in July of last year. At the time I sa Overall, the book doesn’t fall within my “Oh, Wow!” mindset, but it is interesting enough that I will still follow along to see what happens next. Of course, time and books got in the way, and when I saw Brand of the Pack on Netgalley, I grabbed it thinking it was the next in the series. Oops. I totally missed Black Wolf’s Revenge, Book 2 of the Silver Wolf Clan series. Catching in the first sentence that I was missing something, I downloaded Black Wolf and spent this snowy afternoon reading it. I am glad I did. After the happenings in Book 1 Grayson and the woman and child he rescued, Morgan Carter and her niece Lana, have had a hard time. With Morgan learning about her change, and about how rare she is as a Silver Wolf, the dangers to her and Lana have Morgan on a razor’s edge. Grayson has shown time and again that he will do anything, even die if necessary, for her and for Lana. But a botched disclosure of just how rare she is, and how much danger she and Lana are in due to her Silver Wolf status, has Morgan running back to her little house in town, far away from Grayson and the Dallas Pack. Heartbroken, she determines to protect herself and Lana on her own. She hadn’t wanted any more help from them. She would be forever tied to their pack for hunts, socialization, and support or herself and her child. She had wanted one area of her life to stay the same so she could have something to call her own. She wanted a small semblance of the independence she had found and relished in. Something to be proud of. But things don’t always work out the way we want. While both of them suffer, things are working behind their backs which will put all of their lives in danger. And while Gray may love Morgan, the Black Wolf seems more bent on revenge for what he feels is Morgan’s betrayal. Tara Shanley has stepped up in this second book of the series with an interesting premise, fast pace, and interesting world development. Her next book, Brand of the Pack, Silver Wolf Clan, Book 3 continues the story. I received books 1 and 3 from the publisher, however this book I purchased on my own.

    Black and Silver

Copy provided by Netgalley and publisher in return for an honest review. A standalone and Book Two in the Silver Wolf Clan. 123 pages. Even though Tera Shanley is a new author for me and I haven't read book one in the series, I had no difficulty following this book. I think if I had read Silver Wolf Clan first, I would have enjoyed it more, however. The back story and Morgan's personality and history plays heavily into her behavior and decision making here. But this book left me wanting to know more about the new pack and I will be going back for book one and watching for the release of book three. Greystone Crawford was bitten and changed by a powerful rogue werewolf in book one. He is now loosely affiliated with a nearby pack and is friends with the Alpha, Dean. Morgan Carter watched as her sister was murdered and is now raising her sister's young daughter, Lana. Morgan was bitten and changed by Alexis, a she wolf who wanted Grey for herself. But Grey has chosen Morgan. The problem is that Morgan has no idea what she is, a silver wolf, or what that means. And when Grey tries to explain, he does a really bad job, making her think he is with her only to protect her. So she does the only thing she can-she breaks off their engagement. But in isolating herself from the pack she is leaving Lana and herself wide open for attack from other pack's wanting to claim their bloodline. Too late she realizes how naive she has been.

    Black Wolf's Revenge

Devastated Morgan retreats to her cozy house in the city, trying for normalcy only to realize that giving up Grey means giving up his protection only it might be too late when others come for the Silver Wolf in this exciting Silver Wolf Clan story. Morgan thinks Grey is with her for the wrong reasons and Grey is trying to control his beast which isn’t so easy when Morgan’s not around. The reader can’t help but get caught up in the emotional turmoil that flows through the story as both characters lives have been drastically changed and unfortunately neither one is very good at communicating or dealing with deep emotional fears and by the time they realize it danger has already come calling. The strong compelling characters pull readers into their story and don’t let go while the fast pace and smooth flowing plot keeps readers on their toes with suspense. The well written scenes and details capture the imagination and ensure that the readers want to know what happens and I for one was caught up in the story although I was a little disappointed with the characters and the way they handled the situation, and I mean all of the werewolves. But no matter, hopefully they will all do better next time and I can’t wait to find out, oh and I guess I should tell you that this series should read in sequence to get the full impact of what is going on in the Silver Wolf Clan.
