    The GOAT

By far my favourite Cormac McCarthy novel, dense, horrifying, otherworldly, tearing through war and Western violence and concluding in an unforgettable ending.

    Blood meridian

Un po'cervellotico nel finale, ma interessante. Cruento e duro nella descrizione degli spietati cacciatori di scalpi.

    Difficult but compelling

So many metaphors to wrap your head around. I finished the book still struggling with the characters motivation. It is the type of book that would probably become more meaningful with a reread. I would compare it to a dark difficult poem that needs reading and rereading along with thoughtful analysis to get the most out of it. Not light reading nor in fact entertaining.

    My favorite book

This book is challenging. Not only is it disturbing in its portrayal of humanity and violence, it's also a dense, poetic, and complicated epic detailing the idea of reinvention through violence. The amount of time and effort that i put into trying to analyze and understand this book makes it my favorite simply for being something i threw myself into. Be warned though, a white male obsession with violence, particularly racial violence, is a central element of this story that McCarthy uses as a thematic topic. This may be something that puts readers off for it's descriptions of brutality that are sometimes totally divorced from the reader, and sometimes feel innately human and instantly relateable. I will say as a last word, I hated the movie fight club until I interpreted it through the same lens as this book, so maybe if you're a fan of that movie, you could enjoy this!
