  • Wonderful Maine Cozy

I really enjoyed this second entry in this cozy series. The author does a very good job of setting up the characters and the background. The armchair travel to Maine was very good. The mystery was interesting and the amateur sleuth does a good job of solving the crime. I am looking foreword to reading more in this series. Enjoy

  • Great Book

Founder's Day Weekend gets off to a rough start when a body is found in the fire the Snowden Family Clambake was using to prepare a meal. With the police looking at one of their employees, Julia must dig in and find the real killer. The story started out strongly and never faltered as it led me through several twists and turns. The characters were just as strong as in the debut, and I enjoyed spending time with all of them again.

  • Charming, second book of the series

Busman’s Harbour is celebrating summer with a weekend full of activities for Founder’s Day. The Snowden family have devised a way to bring their clambake cooking to the boardwalk. Then a body is discovered in their oven & one of their employees runs from the scene, leaving Julia to solve another mystery, clear names & pray this doesn’t ruin the family business. • This is the second book in the Maine clambake series & a fun follow-up to the first. Julia is a very well drawn & relatable protagonist. She’s the right amount of curious & smart mixed in with realistic flaws that make her seem like a genuine person. One you’d like to be friends with. Ross has a great way of getting right to the mystery in the very first chapter, I’m happy to see that wasn’t just in the first book. I was pulled in immediately. The mystery is good too, lots of plausible suspects who all have secrets. It’ll keep you guessing. And the ending of the book leaves me ready to grab the third ASAP, I need to found out the resolution. So far, two books in, I’m really enjoying the series. I’ve seen other reviewers say that it has a slightly different feel than other cozy mysteries & while I can’t exactly pinpoint what it is (slightly more mature? Eccentric characters that are well written but not obnoxious?) I agree. I’ll be reading on in the series, that’s for sure.
