    Unique

I went in to this book completely blind. I only started reading it because I love everything M. Mabie writes. When I first started it and saw it was about a religious cult, I wanted to put it down. I honestly thought there wasn’t a way for me to get through it. But knowing how I feel about the authors writing, I kept reading. I’m so happy I did. I ended up loving the story! Abe is a loner who escaped his religious family twelve years ago. He gets word that his brother has passed and decides to pay his respects. While visiting town for the services he meets his brothers widow, Myra. Myra is a quiet, shy, beautiful young lady who doesn’t know what to do with herself now that her husband is dead. Abe decides he will try to save the young lady by marrying her and getting her way from the cult ridden town. I was very intrigued to see the story unfold. It was intersting to see Myra behave out in the real world. The poor girl had been brainwashed by her family and had no clue what was expected of her. Abe was a great guy, hard worker and seems to have a good head on his shoulder despite being raised by cult members. The story ended on a cliff hanger. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in the series. I have so many questions that need answering.

Review: The Breaking Trilogy 1: Break My Fall

Break My Fall by M. Mabie is the first book in her brand new Breaking Trilogy . Told in dual POV between Abraham and Myra, this book has a cliffhanger ending that will leave you chomping at the bit for more. An original story of love in unexpected places, cult mentality, inner strength, and so much more, this was a purely enjoyable read. Abraham has been away from Lancaster and his father's cult for years now, but when the call comes in telling him of his brothers death he has no choice but to go back into his past, pay his respects and leave again as fast as he can. When he learns of his brothers widow, Myra, and the horrible, misogynistic plans the elders have planned for her he cannot stop thinking about her. Finally he makes a decision, one that could change his life completely, again. Myra has only ever known life the way she was raised. Not realizing you are in a cult and this isn't the way most people in the world live isn't something she is even aware of. What she does know is that her marriage was never consummated, she isn't as sad at her husbands passing as she thinks she should be, and her brother-in-law Abraham is frightening and enticing all at the same time. When he comes to her offering his help he is the answer to her prayers and for some reason she puts her faith in him. What she doesn't expect is to become his wife, but it's a prospect that doesn't scare her like it should... For the sake of spoilers I will go no further than to say this was enticing, angsty, filled with anticipation and building emotion and sexual chemistry made all the more interesting because of bother of their backgrounds with the cult. I am on tenterhooks awaiting the next installment, Break Me Down. Enjoy!

    a nice, slow burn

I really enjoyed this book! A cult romance with an M. Mabie twist that leaves you happy, frustrated and fully invested in the characters and their story. This is a slow burn as we experience how Abe and Myra meet and get to know each other. Their story is unique and we get plenty of background so that I was never lost but just more intrigued. I loved both Myra and Abe! Abe is a strong, independent man who cares about others and is there to help others when needed, although he would prefer to just be left alone to live his own life. Myra starts out as a shy little mouse but as she learns her way through a new world, she becomes more independent and outgoing. Since we were left with a cliffhanger, I’m anxious to see how this plays out because I’m not sure what, but there is definitely something brewing in the background.
