    Inspiring...

I wasn't sure if I'd like this book as I thought it may be one of those books that tells you what you're doing wrong with your life, but actually, I found it highly amusing & very inspiring - although I was disappointed that it wasn't a true story(!) I'm going to look at life a little differently from now on...

    A very satisfying read

I really liked this book. I never had to push myself to finish it because I enjoyed every chapter. It connects, compares, and contrasts western life and culture with the wisdom of the buddhist tradition. There are many snippets to give one food for thought. The found the writing style really resonated with me. It was insightful without being pretentious. It connects to you on a personal (rather than a scholarly) level. I'm looking forward to reading the sequel (Lunch with Buddha).

Abit slow moving. Message is fuzzy.

Written with humour, this book documents the personal, internal journey of a man who believed he "had it all" but found something lacking. The humorous accounts of east meets west in the mid-western United States, opens up themes of tolerance and understanding. I found the characters interesting and enjoyed this book immensely. It is not an action book, so one must be captivated by the theme, the thought-provoking questions of faith and belief or narrative, otherwise this book won't be for you.
