    Awesome new series!

Wow, my Kindle is smoking from this story! Breaking a Legend is the first book in the new Kavanagh Legends series by Sarah Robinson. If this book is a taste of what this series has in store for us then I can't wait to get my hands on the next installment. The Kavanagh family is an Irish family of five alpha males and a cousin. They are a very close-knit family and like all families they have their own issues to deal with. Rory Kavanagh is the eldest brother in the series. Reeling from the loss of a very promising MMA career, Rory turns to drugs and alcohol to dull both they physical and emotional pain. A playboy who isn't looking for anything series Rory seems content with his life until he lays eyes on the new bartender in town. Clare Ivers moved to New York to start a new life for herself. Needing to get a fresh start, Clare doesn't want or need a man in her life to complicate things. After leaving behind an abusive ex in California, Clare is just trying to stay under the radar. As part of her plan to start over Claire decided to take a self-defense class at the local gym owned by the Kavanagh brothers. After being around Rory on a continuous basis, Clare starts to see there is more to Rory and pushes him to become a better person. She also finds herself feeling safe with Rory and start to open up to him. When things start looking up for these two Clare's past comes back to haunt here and she has to decide if she can put her trust and faith in Rory and his family to help her or if she will run again. I received an eARC of this book compliments of the publisher for my honest review and opinion. All ratings and opinions stated are my own.

    A Fabulous First Book

This was my first MMA book (I am normally a hockey romance girl) and I loved it. Sarah Robinson did a wonderful job of creating a book that had it all. It was sexy, funny, caring, sexy, gritty, sensual, sexy, entertaining, warm, heartfelt -- Oh, and did I say sexy. Rory and Clare were a wonderful couple and I can't say enough about the Kavanagh family. I can't wait to read the other brother's books. This may be Sarah Robinson's first book, but it certainly won't be her last.

    Awesome

I really enjoyed this one and I am so happy to have discovered a new author to follow! This is my first book by Sarah Robinson but now I have to have more. Completely enjoyed her writing style and the way she brought the characters to life. In this book we meet the large and boisterous Kavanagh family and this story is about Rory. Previously a top contender in the MMA world but due to an injury finds himself unable to fight, hurting, and a bit lost. Turning to booze and pills is the only way he's getting through each day. Clare Ivers is new to the tight-knit Bronx community but everyone knows the Kavanagh's. When she captures Rory's attention she knows he's the last thing she needs in her crazy mixed up life. She has her own secrets but resisting him may be more than she can handle. Could these two possibly end up saving each other?? I highly recommend you grab this one and find out.

    Love this book!

“A rugged fighter who’s hurt and struggling to find a new life? A tough heroine who tells it like it is but harbors a secret of her own? And a loving Irish clan? I’m totally there! Breaking a Legend has it all! Sarah Robinson has a serious knockout on her hands!”—Katie Rose, award-winning author of The Heat of the Moment

I would love to submit to this caveman!

What is it that attracts us to the underdog? What is it that attracts us to the alpha male? It must be in our DNA! We still love to submit to the "caveman" and still cheer for the downtrodden seeking to succeed. After losing his last fight due to his stubbornness ( and a seriously broken leg), Rory Kavanaugh is a vessel without a rudder. Ten months of rehab after his leg was put back together, he is still in pain and hooked on pills and liquor. There is no purpose to his life anymore. His purpose in life was the cage and maintaining his status as one of the top 10 MMA fighters. Now, he has no idea what to do with his life. Even his once close ties with his family has taken a hit. He feels guilty because he knows he has not lived up to their expectations. In addition, he has no idea or will to turn his life around. Meeting Claire is the first thing that makes Rory think twice about his life. The attraction is immediate. As she meets him for the first time while he is thoroughly drunk at the bar where she works, they cannot help but notice the easy banter and the electricity between them. Claire comes with her own baggage. She is running away from her past and fearing for her life. She needs to prove to herself she is strong and able to defend herself. Living in terror and barely making ends meet, she is still resilient and willing to pick herself up again and again in order to succeed. All the emotions of falling in love, loving someone deeply, yet feeling inadequate are shared by our characters. Their struggle to improve themselves goes beyond the expected, as our main characters try, fail and continue to fight toward shedding the baggage from the past and to forge ahead with hope. I should also mention, the love scenes are HOT! They are not over explicit, in fact they are very tasteful but still HOT. Sensitive, emotional with undercurrents that will grip your heart, all is not drama. This is an Irish family with a heart of gold ( although Kavanaugh Sr. was once part of the Irish Mafia). They are boisterous, caring and involved with each other. They cannot help but draw us into their family dynamics where they all care and fight for each other. Sometimes they even fight each other! Too many alpha boys trying to grow up into men. I found myself immersed in this story completely. I could feel the emotions the characters were feeling because, at some point or another, we have all struggled to succeed. We have all succumbed to pressures and obstacles and it is through our inner fortitude that we are able to overcome. A special mention is needed here. This story makes a strong statement regarding the use of dogs to train fighting dogs. The inhumanity of such a practice has to be noted. These dogs are victims to the greed of humans that will stop at nothing to get what they want. We are the keepers of the Earth and all the animals and lives on this planet. Whether we like animals or not, being decent and not abusing them comes with the territory. Our story shows us how, with care, we can help these victimized dogs to find a new life with a hopeful future. Ace's character is based on a real-life dog who survived this inhumane treatment and found a loving home to nurture and love him. Art imitates life.
