    Hard book to put down!

This story, which is Hornet series book # 3, has us following Travis and Mara. What was supposed to start out as just a one night stand - rolled over to a week. Then the next time Travis came a calling there were surprises all around! First of all, they did not know their lives were in danger or that those closest to them would be plotting their deaths. Former teammates, those sworn to protect and defend us were after Mara and in the long run want Travis dead and out of their way. Next, we have a surprise baby situation that has most family members up in arms. Mara's cousin (also Travis' teammate) is so fired up that he even touched a member of his family, let alone got her knocked up. Mara's step-dad is ruler over her mother and has disowned her due to the pregnancy. Finally, they end up kidnapped in a foreign country that cannot know of their presence for fear it is an International Incident. Through it all, and to make matters worse, Travis doubts he can be a good father since his was a piss poor imitation of a real one. He and Mara are constantly fighting about whether he should even be allowed to be in her life or the baby's. It takes the good and current members of his team, Mara herself, and some wonderful friends to show Travis Quinn what family really is and that he already has one. Such an amazing story and full of action, hard bodies, sparks a plenty, and much more!! ***This ARC copy was given FREE from Netgalley.com and its author, Tonya Burrows. Fantastic book in an amazing series!!!

I absolutely LOVE the HORNET series! This book is about the very sexy HORNET member Travis Quinn and Mara Escareno, HORNET member Jesse Warrick's cousin. My heart bleeds for Quinn and Mara. Quinn because he's had such a hard start in life and he's so afraid to take what he wants and Mara because she wants him so bad but doesn't know how to deal with his issues. Through all they go through there is that one little surprise that helps Quinn want to deal with his demons. The chemistry between them is undeniable and sizzling. There is also a HUGE plot twist that will shock you for sure! A couple times I had to break out the tissue and let the tears fall. The members of HORNET are a family, maybe not by blood but a family none the less. Awesome read!!! Received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

A sexy action packed thrill ride!

This action packed romantic suspense novel treats us to the romance of Travis Quinn and Mara Escareno. A one night stand led to a few more nights which led to an unexpected pregnancy, one that shocks Quinn and scares him to death. He's dealing with a traumatic brain injury that results in him experiencing memory loss episodes and in no way considers himself fit to be a boyfriend never mind a father. But when Mara is kidnapped by human traffickers and it all appears to be leading back to the car accident that claimed his memory, come hell or high water he'll find her and bring her back. But will rescuing her make him realize how much he'll miss if he doesn't give their relationship a chance? I was thoroughly entertained by this story! From the very beginning the action starts and doesn't let up, leading the reader and Quinn and his team on a tense chase across the continents to track Mara and bring her back. I confess, I'm a big fan of espionage type thrillers so this story was right up my alley. Though Mara is the victim, she exhibits a strength that clearly comes across as she uses her wit and forethought to help herself as much as possible. I really liked how her strength of character came through and her unwillingness to put up with anything but a 100% effort on Quinn's part to make a go of their relationship. She knows she deserves a man who is all in and though she loves Quinn she won't settle for less. Quinn is the tortured hero, bound by his memories of a tragic childhood and caught up now in this mess of feelings for Mara that alternately scare him and enthrall him all the same. His emotionally battered state competes equally with his physically battered one. Together they share a sexual attraction that won't be denied despite not knowing where the future lies. Besides the two main characters however, a large part of the success of the story is Quinn's HORNET team, characters introduced in previous novels in the series that are each unique and entertaining individuals. I loved the witty banter between them all, their willingness to go the distance for each other and the camaraderie that they share. I was also impressed with the level of research done for this story exposing the horrible situation that many young women in poorer situations find themselves in with respect to human trafficking. There is no doubt in my mind that there are more stories to tell in this series, and I can't wait to see what comes from this author next! 5 action packed stars! Note: a portion of the proceeds of the sales from this story will go to aid charities involved in helping victims of human trafficking.

An Addictive Thrill Ride. No Cliffhangers!

BROKEN HONOR (HORNET, # 3) by Tonya Burrows February 24, 2015 Publisher: Barclay 350 pages, approximately Romance: Suspense, Mystery / Thriller, Military ** Provided by Publicist via NetGalley in Exchange for an Honest Review. ** -- From the Cover -- Ice-cold and unbreakable, Travis Quinn is the HORNET team's hard-ass. No weaknesses. Except, of course, for the accident that not only destroyed his career as a Navy SEAL, but left terrifying blanks in his memory. But Travis remembers everything about Mara Escareno--the curve of her lips, the feel of her body...and how he walked out on her suddenly six weeks ago. Mara could never resist the dangerously sexy Travis, which is probably how she ended up pregnant and disowned by her family. But before Travis can fully process the news, Mara is kidnapped by his enemies and plunged into the violent, merciless world of human trafficking. They want Travis--and the information locked within his damaged memory--no matter the cost. And now Travis's enemies have discovered his only weakness...Mara. -- -- ** NOTE: ** Ms. Burrows is donating a portion of her first month's proceeds to NOTFORSALE, an organization that is trying to prevent Human Trafficking. Her goal is to reach $1000 during that time frame and with YOUR help, it CAN be done! For more information, visit: notforsalecampaign.org My Thoughts: The men of HORNET are back! Although Ms. Burrows does a wonderful job at writing this so it may stand on it's own, I feel it would be most beneficial and enjoyable if the reader reads SEAL of Honor and Honor Reclaimed prior to this to appreciate the supporting characters to their fullest value. I'm always nervous to review a book by one of my favorite authors. I worry it won't live up to my lofty expectations and I also worry that the author may not like my review... because, regardless of who the author is, I took a vow to read and review each book fairly and honestly. That said, here I go... although Quinn has been an important member of HORNET, his character never left a strong, positive impression with me. He knew he was suffering side effects from the brain injury, but kept playing it off as no big deal. It's irresponsible, reckless and selfish to do, especially as the commanding officer of the team. But, this book redeems him. Mara's kind of a more obscure character, meaning though they have history and she's been introduced in a previous storyline, she played more of a cameo than a minor role. Her character is quite enjoyable and I find her blend of vulnerability and feistiness to be refreshing. The dialogue and interaction between characters can easily be envisioned playing out in front of you, it's very believable and feels feel. The plot is darker than the others of this series, it is dynamic and exciting, providing thrills and laughs and tears all while flowing with the smoothness of a decadent chocolate fountain. I'll never be able to look at a Whac-a-Mole game again without thinking of Jean-Luc... priceless! There were plenty of conflicts being tossed at them from many different directions, all of which seem to have been resolved quite neatly. I had some speculations early on about "Captain Cold" and was oh-so close to being right, but I was just wrong enough for it to still be have that "whoa" factor upon the big reveal. Glad Tank made it back from London, he had me worried for a bit. The conclusion was solid and there's just enough of a slight tease to whet the appetite for what might be the next book in the series. I really enjoy this series. If you like Maya Banks' KGI series, you will love Tonya Burrows' HORNET series. ** Personal Note: Mara lives in, and is abducted from, El Paso, Texas via one of the bad guys. Before they take her OCONUS, they receive a shipment of human cargo. People may not think that this is a very real problem right here in the U.S. in 2015, but they are terribly mistaken and uninformed. It is real, it is a big enough problem to be given an in-depth story on the news last week, informing residents what Signs to watch for. ----------------------- Heat Level: 4 ----------------------- Score: 4.7 Stars: 5 ----------------------- Tina J / Unbound Passion Reviewing for: Tangled Hearts and Boxer Briefs -and- Smut Book Junkie Book Reviews
