    Quick fun read

A quick fun read about two lonely people finding each but both afraid to take a chance. The somewhat shy librarian Penny Callahan finds herself in some hilarious situations thanks to her outrageous coworker. Meeting Jack Williamson may be the best thing to come out of one of those situations though. He's very tempting.... to bad she has this no men for 12 months thing going. Could this be the one man she can trust or is he more than he seems???? I enjoyed this one and would definitely recommend it.

    Fun and sexy romantic comedy

Penny's New Year's Resolution is to stay away from men for a year, after enough heartbreak from cheating exes to ruin any notion of romance. Yet somehow her dreams of a quiet evening ringing in the New Year in pajamas and with a good book have been replaced by an assortment of amorous singles at her library's New Year's Eve event, looking for love or at least to ring in the New Year with a kiss. Somehow roped into the borderline shocking games with Jack, a reluctant son who accompanied his widowed mother to the event, their connection seems too good to be true. When the New Year's day hangover kicks in, will her resolution be all for naught? What a fun premise! To take a shy, reserved librarian and make her responsible for a singles night planned by her much more adventurous (and way less reserved!) co-worker is a recipe for laughs and they abound here as Penny tries to pull the evening off without appearing to be totally out of her element. Jack is equally at odds with the whole affair too, obviously coerced into it by his mother who's on the make, and trying his best to stay out of the limelight. But his chivalrous nature shines through and he's quick to aid Penny in the icebreaker games her friend had planned, finding that something about her strikes a chord with him. I loved their banter and their attraction to each other is easy to believe. They do share some heated scenes (once the rest of the patrons have either found a partner or found a bar to drown their sorrows in) but it's trust that is the key to any relationship, and Jack hasn't been completely honest with Penny. I liked how the story evolved and Jack's patience and perseverance in trying to prove to her that he's worth breaking her resolution for. Very enjoyable, and I'm looking forward to the next in the series! 4 stars.
