  • The True Epilogue

The ending of War Storm didn't quite feel right to me (though it likely felt like the best option in Aveyard's mind and as the author she will always have final say and the best knowledge), so this was definitely the book I had been waiting for. It's beautifully designed and filled with all sorts of stories and maps that not only give more context and depth to the world, but also bring some closure to certain moments. Since most of the stories take place after the war, there is little tension or stakes. They're mostly stories of acceptance and personal growth for the main characters. I enjoyed Ashe's story on the river, and was glad to see the conclusion of Cal and Mare's story, though its resolution moved a little quickly and I thought there might be more tension and drama, as per their style. Still, seeing how they grew, moved on, and learned to accept their endings made for some truly emotional moments, especially with Cal at the end. I think this is a great companion book for anyone who didn't feel they had enough closure in War Storm. There are some great stories in here and some fun information for those who wanted to know more about the history of this reimagined world. It even provides a refresher of major events for readers who need it. I found it to be quite enjoyable and recommend it for all fans of the Red Queen series!

  • A great finale

It was fascinating to go back in time to learn some history of the Red Queen series. Then it continued forward from various viewpoints. Loved it all.
