    definitely on the dark side

I have been wanting to start this series for a while now. I have all of the books sitting on my Kindle. So, I decided to dive in. I haven't read a good dark romance in a while, so I thought I would finally give this one a go. As I am sitting here thinking about my words for this review, I am a little conflicted. This story is definitely dark. There are parts of it that are very unique to the plot I haven't come across before. However, the main gist of it is very similar to other books written around the same time it was written. Over all, on the plot itself, I felt a little jilted. I was hoping for something completely different. Sticking with the plot. I can only read so many books with a dominating male who is into BDSM so many times. These books can get repetitive and unoriginal. I hate to say that that is how I felt about this one. Although the coming together of these characters is unique in its own, the characters themselves are a dime a dozen in my opinion. I can admit that I breezed through this book. I will most likely pick up the next book soon to see where the progression of this story ends up going. I am curious to see what ends up playing out with these characters. This book is definitely a dark book. It's not for everyone. If you are looking for sweet, this is not a book for you. While the sex scenes are dark, they are hot. But be prepared if you are the type that likes cookie cutter stories. This will not come close to that. Those that like the darker themes, will more than likely enjoy the opener to this series. For me, it was okay. Hoping for a little more with the next one.

    Buttons and Lace

This book rocked! Just dark enough to be creepy but believable. Crow seemed to grow on me as the story progressed and I can't hardly wait to read the next book...Buttons and Hate!

    Full of suspense and captivating

I received an ARC of the book in exchange for an honest review. This is one of the best and intriguing novels I've read. It got me hooked and addicted to it. I couldn't put it down, I didn't want to put it down. It literally puts you on a roller coaster of emotions making you experience every single feeling of the characters. The author Penelope Sky has been able to develop a plot and a narration which captivates you to a point that you feel like you're part of the story. I have cried, pained and hoped as Pearl, the main character goes through more and more difficult times in a sensational and breathtaking succession of events. I love how strong she is and that she never gives up despite the adversities she is forced to face. The more her fate gets uncertain the harder she fights. Captured and sold as a slave to a "monster" (as she defines him) called Bones, who pushes her to the limit, she is then "snatched by a beast", Crow. He confines her into his mansion and persuades her to accept a deal in exchange for her freedom. Although Pearl acts exclusively to earn the control over her life back, she soon finds herself enjoying the "relationship" she establishes with Crow. This internal contradiction between what she should do and feel and what she actually experiences, generates a sense of guilt and bewilderment inside her mind and heart. I don't want to give much away so I'll just say that the book ends right when things were starting to get interesting between the two of them. I would definitely recommend this read and I can't wait for the rest of the series to know what destiny has in store for them.

    I hate cliffhangers

The book took a while to take off. Once it did get rolling, the story was ok. I won't read parts 2 and 3. I do not like waiting for a story.

    Great read

This in not one of those sweet love stories. This book is full of pain and betrayal but it is also a wonderfully written book with gripping complicated characters. Ms. Sky takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions that leaves you wanting more at the end. I can't wait for book two to come out
