Eloise is a complex and moving character

Eloise is a go getter. It seems that whatever way she looks at her goals, success is at the top of the list. She is driven and focused, so success in business comes smoothly to her. She pushes herself hard and she is competitive. When her excellent track record and unmistakable talent put her in the running for a an opportunity that will not only fast track her career but shoot her to the top third of the corporate ladder, she is thrilled. Not everyone is as delighted with the news as she is. Eloise is confronted with some very difficult decisions. The choices she makes will determine the course of her life. Standing at this fork in the road she reaches out to her friends and family for support, but finds that they have their own ideas about what she should do. It is interesting to watch Eloise struggle through various stages as she tries to have everything she wants without sacrificing anything. Ordinarily this high powered over-organized control nut personality would be unappealing, but as you read and discover more about who she is, this behavior is explained. Her personality makes sense. Her priorities make sense. Even when you are not sure what she is doing, you can’t help but root for her. I liked the pace of the story. With every page turn, the plot thickens somehow, making it an engaging read with lots of action. Finally, I loved the ending. Eloise does what she does, and lands where she lands. She discovers the richness in her life and where her priorities lie. I read this as the third novel in a series, but it is great as a stand alone too. The main character is mentioned in those books but this is the one that tells her story.

This book has some surprises - you'll love it!

Wow, I loved this story. It brought back memories of my many years of working in a fast, driven company where women had to work twice as hard as men to get recognized for their abilities. Eloise, the main character in this story, sure knew what she had to do to get the job opportunities that she craved so much. She had to "work her butt off" and she did. As I gaze at the cover of this book, I remember Eloise's drive as she gave up so much of her life to ensure that her younger brother and younger sister had the opportunities in life that were robbed from her so early in her childhood. Her fiance, Moses, loved her, loved her drive, loved her ambitions, but did he love her enough? Did she love him enough to meet his needs? I have read a lot of books (23 so far this year), and a number of them have been disappointing to me because the plot was established and predicted in the first few pages of the book, and the ending left few surprises. This author knows how to write her stories in such a way that the reader really doesn't know what is going to happen until the very end. All three of the books in this "A New Start" Series were stories that many readers could relate too. The characters were not so perfect that the rest of us felt inadequate in comparison too, but were real life, down-to-earth personalities with lives that don't always go as planned. I read this book via ebook but I definitely want my very own paperback. Thanks for a great read!
