The odds are stacked against them

Marcus ran away from Storm to avoid eradicating his abusive father. Now several years later his father has disappeared, leaving his mother and sisters in a bad way. Still unsure of whether he should stay or return to the life he has made for himself, Brittany Rush s suddenly a game changer, forcing him to rethink his decisions. Tough times lay ahead what with him being the bad boy from the wrong side of the tracks and Britanny belonging to Storm's royal family. ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.

    Sweet Drama

I really like Marcus, and so far he's remained out of the crazy drama that is Storm, TX. But he remained out of it because he left. Now that he's back in town, sparks are flying between him and the Senator's daughter and her family is not happey about it. Marcus grew up on the "wrong side of town" with the "wrong type of people" and the Rushes want something "better" for their daughter. Ya...lots of air quotes in that one. I really dislike this family. They are the bad guys here and they are going to have a hell of a time making me like them again (except for Brittany - she's good). Marus isn't one to let a little family dislike stand between him and the girl he wants to be with. But he has his own family issues as well. Lots of things happening in Storm. This was another one on the sweeter side and I liked it, but I need my drama now please!

    3.5 Stars

This book focuses mainly on Brittany and Marcus however we get glimpses and snippets of the other characters we've come to love. What I loved: • The flirting and chemistry between Brittany and Marcus. •The "old friend" bond between Marcus and Logan, their scenes were great! •The evil that is Senator Rush and his Mother... wonderfully written. What I liked less: • Marcus is undecided about his immediate future at this point in the story, which is fine.. but sometimes came across more wishy-washy than I would expect from his character. • Simple misunderstandings... I really dislike when these go on for far too long.... now this one could play out totally differently in the next book, than I am picturing. But I have a strong feeling it won't and sadly because of that, has left a sour taste in my mouth at the end of this episode and has lost .5 of a star from me. I had not read this author before and while her writing was good it did take me some time to adjust to it... and honestly I can't put my finger on why... that said, I am glad I have book 6 on my kindle ready to go.. I cant wait to see what's going to happen!

The storm is about to hit!

After 6 years, Marcus Alvarez in back in Storm, Texas. Since his father left home unexpectedly, Marcus has been worried about his mother and sisters. During that time, Marcus had been working in a Montana ranch where his boss, Ian Briggs helped him to manage his anger issues. Marcus plans to Montana soon, but when he sees Brittany Rush again, he begins to rethink his plans. Nobody really knows why Marcus had left. Meanwhile, Luis wants to fix things with Mallory Rush, and blurts out what he heard Payton and Francine discuss about Jacob Salt. Marylee Rush and her son, the Senator, do not want to see Marcus and Brittany involved, and will stop at nothing to nip that romance in the bud. However, when someone finally stands up to the Senator, is it in vain? Dillon Murphy tells Marcus what happened with Hector Alvarez, and we get to know the horrible reason why Hector has always been so much nicer to Dakota. The title CALM BEFORE THE STORM is exactly what is happening in Episode 5 of the Rising Storm series; secrets are revealed but the consequences won’t be felt until later; who will tell what to whom? The Senator and his mother are definitely up to no good, but how far will they go? CALM BEFORE THE STORM is so well written, so fluid, it was over before I knew it; I was completely immersed in the story; it is so good! And the flirting between Brittany and Marcus is one of the hottest scenes I have ever read. A heck of a storm is brewing! I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Makes me look at humanity in a different way.

I applaud all of the authors within this collaborative series. Julie Kenner and Dee Davis came up with an exceptional idea and with each installment more of the pieces fall into place. These are truly troubled people. Some do the wrong things for the right reason and others are just users who thrive on hurting others. The latest installment has been penned by Larissa Ione. Calm Before the Storm centers around Marcus and Brittany. Drawn together due to tumultuous events within their families, these two find healing and escape from all the chaotic drama. Received an ARC of this novella in exchange for an honest review. The thing that I find so compelling about this series is that every action one person makes has an effect on the lives of many others. It really makes me look at humanity in a different way.
