    Great read

I really enjoyed this story. A great romance, strong writing, and the characters were complex and interesting. Alia Drake and Nate Riordan met a few years ago at a picnic and had an instant attraction but when Alia's sister Becca also showed interest in Nate, Alia backed away. Mostly! Now Alia is working as a physical therapist at a veteran's resort where Nate is staying. That same attraction is there but with the job complication and secrets from that time he dated her sister may be too much to overcome. Definitely one I would recommend.

    Not a typical love triangle

This story had a different setup for the couple's background that made it interesting. Not the typical love triangle. I liked it ok and was interested to see how the problems would be worked out in the end. The areas that fell short for me was Alia's need to be almost like a superhero swooping in to save people and the length of the story. The middle was a little long. I do like the series involving wounded veterans and feel Serena Bell does an excellent job of writing her male Heroes realistically, rather than overly romantic. I’m all about the romance, but appreciate realism in my story as well. 3.5 stars

    Can't Hold Back

This romance is kind of a second chance story, but not in the conventional way. Alia met Nate, the hero, several years before and there was an immediate, mutual attraction between them, but instead of acting on it, she introduced him to her sister, Becca, who had recently suffered a difficult breakup. Alia is the over-protective "big" sister who always takes care of her little sister sometimes to her own detriment. After Becca and Nate started dating, Becca asked Alia for help in writing to Nate while he was deployed so Alia wrote beautiful letters to Nate in which her own heart and growing attraction to him came through. Ultimately Becca broke off the relationship, and let Nate know that Alia was the one who wrote the letters. Several years later, as the story opens, Alia is still grieving the loss of the connection to Nate while he feels completely betrayed by both sisters. Nate and Alia are thrown together as Alia fills in temporarily at the veteran's recovery camp while Nate attends to try to deal with severe chronic pain from a combat injury. He's ditched the pills he was using to manage the pain but not the cravings. They can't fight their attraction although they have barriers in their way. There's his initial distrust of her, and her ethical misgivings due to the fact that he's her patient and professional ethics absolutely forbid any kind of personal relationship as a result. However, they were just too good together to resist for long. I loved how passionate Alia was about helping her patients any way she could and learned a lot about alternative therapies for pain management. I also loved how much consideration she gave to her professional ethics and how she was up front about the issues with her boss, Jake. This romance was about both Alia and Nate figuring out how to move on and go after what they really wanted in life instead of settling for something less. It was really satisfying to see them finally figure it out. I received an ARC from the author and voluntarily reviewed this book.
