    A memoir of resilience

‘Chanel Bonfire’ is about a heartbreaking childhood. Lawless brings the reader along for the journey, often protecting us from the full scope of living with a mother with untreated mental illness. Yet it is written with empathy and hope. Lawless and her sister’s resilience and persistence show what people can withstand, especially when we are not alone. Not always easy reading, but engaging.
