Emilia's story -- Another Wonderful "Magic" Book!!

I absolutely loved this latest book in the "Magic" series! I was sucked in from the first page and could not put the book down. I will fully admit, that I have read and love every book in all the "Magic" series' - the original Magic series, the California Malcolm series, and this current series Unexpected Magic. The unique thing about this author is that she manages to suck you in with this family and make each story feel unique and character rich. This is a lot harder than it seems when there are so many books in the series. For those who are new to the series, that is ok you can start on this book and enjoy it - you will just have a few spoilers on who ultimately marries. This is Emilia's story - the botanist who needs to marry to access her fortune, but who gets sucked into her work and does not want the responsibility of a husband and family. In Viscount "Devil" Dare, we find someone who is also at a turning point in there life but for altogether different reasons. Together these two learn a lot about themselves (and what they are capable of), each other, and what it takes to be in a relationship.

    A highly entertaining read

An entertaining read, one that kept me glued to my Kindle, Chemistry of Magic has all the elements of a good story. From the opening pages when Emilia proposes marriage to the dying Lord Dare, I was hooked. Despite being complete strangers, Dare and Emilia have more in common than they first realise and as the marriage progresses Dare finds that he cannot help but admire his new wife and respect her abilities. There was some intrigue and a mystery to be solved, but mostly I was overwhelmed by the thought that the scientists of the 19th century literally took their lives in their hands experimenting to find cures and the causes of disease. The battle between what is now known as "conventional medicine" and the more natural herbal remedies still rages, however there was a time when scientific methods were anything but conventional. I loved the dialogue between Dare and Emilia which was filled with wit and humour, and the situations they found themselves in were also extraordinary. It was a serendipitous match, one that resulted in both parties embarking on a new road of discovery. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

    Historical Romance

Chemistry of Magic by Patricia Rice Unexpected Magic #5 Wow! I absolutely loved this book!!! I do like a marriage of convenience story that works and this one definitely did. With Miss Emilia Malcolm McDowell wanting her inheritance but needing a husband and Montague “Devil” Dare dying of consumption but needing to secure his family’s future the marriage is something they both see the benefit of. If there is attraction, so much better, right? Little do the two realize that there will be more than consumption to deal with when they reach their new home! With a staff to hire, laboratories to set up, healing to be done, evil ne’er do wells trying to steal from them and family magic in abundance the two manage to find their way to contentment but…can they have forever with his sentence of death hanging over their heads? Again – loved this book and when I finished I read the excerpt for “No Perfect Magic” – the next book in the series – and wanted to keep reading but the book is not out yet – it has William in it and I have been DYING to find out more about him! Thank you to the author for the ARC – This is my honest review. 5 Stars

    Highly reccomend

I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I have not read the series, but I very much want to read the Other books. This had intrigue, a love story, and a touch of magic. I want to know what happens to these characters down the line. Will she learn to control her gift? Will she be able to heal Dare.? Will a son be borne? What happens to Tess? Overall a great read and looking forward to upcoming books. Loved this one.

    My most favorite paranormal series

The Unexpected Magic Series by Patricia Rice is one of my most favorite paranormal series. I love reading anything magical and Patricia Rice is really great at weaving a splendid magical tale. Lord Dare and Emilia are such strong and amazing characters and really suited each other very well. I was captivated by the story throughout the entire book and was really sad when the story came to the end.
