  • I struggled with this one

I really struggled with the rating for this one because I am a long time fan of Nalini Singh’s books, but in the end I had to go with 3 stars. There was so much of this that felt like a Harlequin series novel, which I loved once upon a time, but now I want a bit more grit and realism in my contemporary romances. That is of course, all on me. Some of the thoughts and situations were a bit overly dramatic. The way Ísa and Sailor meet (as adults) is a bit ridiculous and in no way realistic, which granted is not always a bad thing, but it just compounded the larger issue. Then the worry that Ísa has over being first in Sailor’s thoughts was a bit overdone. She obsesses and worries over it the entire book without ever having a meaningful conversation about it and then it just resolves itself because Sailor is the perfect hero. Sailor was pretty much the perfect hero — sweet, sexy, devoted, and willing to make sacrifices. He’s seen a relationship be destroyed by someone who doesn’t care and he’s determined to never make that mistake. When he meets Ísa he immediately knows what he wants and he’s not afraid to go after it, full steam. He also listens to and respects Ísa’s insecurities and does his best to prove that he will live up to her standards. I always appreciate Nalini Singh’s heroines who are sweet and gentle but also strong. She does a really good job of writing innocent heroines who aren’t complete naive doormats. Ísa isn’t overly experienced and she’s very shy but she also pushes through when she finds something she really wants. Her loyalty and dedication to her step-siblings is also commendable. The side characters were all really great and I enjoyed seeing the rest of the Bishop/Esera clan again. I loved them in Rock Hard so it was wonderful to see everyone again. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a story between Catie and Danny once they’ve grown up a bit more. There was a far bit of repetitive language in this book that got annoying after a while. For instance, Ísa refers to Sailor and his eyes as “demon” or “blue-eyed demon” 25 times which doesn’t seem like a lot but it was often clumped together with it being said 2-3 times in just a few pages. Sailor also constantly thinks about his need to make his business a success and Ísa spends the entire time agonizing about when the relationship will come crashing down.

  • You will fall hard for sweet talking Sailor

If like me you've already read Rock Hard then you will be well aware that the men of the Bishop clan are pretty awesome. If you haven't yet discovered just how yummy they are then allow me to introduce Sailor Bishop! He might not be the roughest guy in town but this quietly determined gardener knows exactly what he wants from life . So what will he do when he finally catches up with the girl of his dreams? A girl that seems to just want to keep running away ! Isa is the lynchpin that keeps her somewhat muddled family together. She knows all about careers and ambition sometimes getting put first and is absolutely convinced that she could only be happy with a guy who like her wants above all a family and that elusive white picket fence. So what on earth is she doing spending time with hunky Sailor who is obviously going places and about to leave Isa far behind? He's impossible to resist but Isa knows only too well that heartbreak isn't too far away. I loved stepping back in time and catching up with the Bishop boys. Set before the glorious T-Rex was introduced to readers this story charts the romance of Sailor and Isa. This passionate couple both have abandonment issues which means they have a lot to work out before they can achieve their dreams. You will fall hard for Sailor with his sweet words and love of catching Isa unaware . You will also relish that Isa stands up for those she loves. Yet you will want to bang certain characters over the head and that's were this story really comes to life. Yes it's a romance but the supporting characters enrich the journey so much. I adored seeing the family interact, applaud the author for giving us a character that isn't perhaps physically perfect ( but then who is ?) and most of all the emotion that brought home exactly what is important. Plus not only are there more brothers to entertain us in the future but a romance brewing in the wings that surely will come bursting into print soon ! This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

  • Cherish Hard

The bonds of friendship and family, the dynamics of subtle strength were represented by Isa and the people in her life. The struggle of carving out brilliant life-long dreams without alienating loved ones was Sailor's struggle. Together they were dynamic and sweetly explosive fun. As they journeyed to figure out how to be together without hurting one another. I soooo enjoyed the laid back story telling in this book. Emotional landscapes were depicted as fiercely vivid as is with Nalini Singh's stories... This is one of those books that simply makes your heart sigh, and makes you dream laughingly, and also brings out the naughty adventurous side out to play and love! You can't help but cheer all of them on! Amazing read!!

  • Cherish Hard

Loved reading about Sailor & Ísa's story. Have been a huge fan of Nalini Singh ever since her Phy-Changling series and have read all her books. Can't wait for the rest of Sailor's brothers stories to come out! I highly recommend Nalini Singh.

  • So Fun, Sweet & Sexy!!

Oh, how I Love Nalini Singh’s style, she always pulls me in, and CHERISH HARD was another fantastic read. I loved everything about it, from the fantastic, interesting characters and their interactions, that were full of light, fun, sweetness and a sizzling chemistry, that is so real it jumped off the page right at me. There were so many fantastic moments between them I couldn’t get enough and never wanted this story to end. O.M.G. Absolutely fell in love with Sailor Bishop, his sexy sweetness and tenderness melted my heart. Loved, how from the very first scene of them connecting you could tell he was such a genuinely, great guy. So sweet, selfless and sexy. It was simply wonderful how he was there for Isa. The way that he takes care of her, understands her, and gives so much to Isa, he is Sooo! Swoon-Worthy!! There is definitely more to Isa than meets the eye and I loved her story. She is such a survivor, so giving and caring to everyone around her. But strong, intelligent and independent with a fine business mind. But all she wants and needs, is to find a man, that will love and cherish her, putting her and their family first, always. Is that to much to ask for? Will she find it? I totally enjoyed the build as everything played out. I adored the fact that it was written in dual POV and I really got to know both of them and feel what they were feeling. These main characters bring out all the feels and I fell in love alongside them. A passionate, lyrical romance that makes your heart soar and that takes your breath away. It really has it all. Grab your copy today and be prepared to fall in love! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
