    Wonderful Christmas Story

This was such a great Christmas story. It was full-on holiday theme, but without getting overly sweet (unless you count the goodies Kara makes in her bakery - they sound delish)! Our leading characters had more in common they they first think - especially after a very bumpy first impression. Both are driven, business-oriented, and out to prove themselves to the world. But they have different ways of doing that. It was fun to see how two people were so similar and yet so very different in how they went about getting things done. Christmas was everywhere, from the decorations at the B&B, the bakery's goodies, and the all important (seriously - very important) holiday house competition. This competition sounds like fun, but with a prize on the line, it gets very serious very quickly - but thankfully our couple doesn't let it get in the way - too much. All these little holiday touches set such a perfect stage for the romance. Christmas Comes to Main Street will definitely put you in the holiday mood with lovely characters, a great setting, and the perfect romance. I think I'll have to check out more from Briar Creek, because this was definitely a winner. *This book was received in exchange for an honest review*

    Wonderful Book!!!

Christmas Comes to Main Street by Olivia Miles....I Loved, Loved, Loved this wonderful story, it has put me in the Christmas spirit. This book is such a sweet, fun and loveable read. Kara and Nate are so well developed and likeable, I enjoyed watching their stories play out. I read this book in one sitting, so make sure you have a couple hours, you do not want to put it down. Olivia Miles is quickly moving to the top of my authors list. I was given a complimentary book by publisher for an honest review.

Not quite the ending I hoped for

Much to my surprise this year, the Christmas spirit hit me very early so I have been happily inhaling all the Christmas-themed books I can fit into my schedule and I was really looking forward to this from the teasers about Kara in the previous book. The end result was mixed feelings for me and I'll tell you why. Kara Hastings knows what it's like to be considered a flake. After a history of being unable to stick with anything, the time has come for her to show Briar Creek that she's found something that she loves. As a bold step, she quit her job and poured her inheritance from her father into her new bakery and while it's a lot of work, she loves what she is building. But this holiday season is especially tough because of the memories of her father and also the fact that she's now the only single person among her coupled-up friends. The last place Nate Griffin expects to find himself in during the holidays is Briar Creek, but there he is, coerced into spending time with his aunt. To his surprise, there is an upside - the town baker Kara and he finds himself wanting to get to know her better. Even though their first meeting was not the best, things could surely only get better. Kara was my favorite part of this book because she embodies everything to love about the season. She had a dream and had the courage to bring it to life. She was determined to make a success of her dream and even in the face of skepticism from her family and friends, she just kept on which was admirable. Her pride in her accomplishments shone through and her love for her father was undeniable. Nate on the other hand was Ebenezer Scrooge come to life. He was annoying, period. He just didn't want to relax and enjoy himself. He may have had good intentions, but his delivery was bad and it doesn't really matter to me that he came around in the end. It was too little, too late. I was actually so upset about him that my original review was a full out rant and it took some time to get a better perspective to write this one. I have enjoyed this series very much and while this wasn't the best for me, I think Kara and the town of Briar Creek made it worth reading. Disclaimer: I received this book for free from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

    Christmas In Briar Creek

The holidays are upon the inhabitants of Briar Creek, and Kara Hastings and her cookies and gingerbread houses are in big demand. Kara barely has time to do anything besides make all of the cookies, but her bakery is a labor of love, and she's determined to make a go of it. Nate Griffin, in town to spend the holiday with his elderly aunt, knows a thing or two about business and life in the big city, but spending time relaxing, not so much. Life in Briar Creek is very far away from his normal, and getting in touch with small-town life and into the Christmas spirit will be good for him. And maybe, just maybe, spending time with Kara will be good for him, too... I'm not going to lie, Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year. So while people are still getting excited about all things pumpkin, I'm looking forward to decking the halls and settling down with a nice cup of tea and a big pile of holiday books. Not that I want to speed by the rest of the autumn season, mind you, but there's just something about Christmas that has always been extra-special to me. CHRISTMAS COMES TO MAIN STREET by author Olivia Miles is a perfect match for me right now, because it has all of the elements that make the idea of the holidays in a small, closely-knit community such the standard. Think IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, but moved forward to current day, with less of the angst and all of the feel-good moments. I like Kara very much. Having lost her father at a young age, she's spent much of her life trying to find her way. Opening her bakery is a way for her to honor her dad, and to feel his presence, and she is determined to prove the town nay-sayers wrong and make a real success of her new business. With Christmas just weeks away, Kara feels a little bit overwhelmed, so when Nate arrives, his head for business at the forefront even while on vacation, she's happy to incorporate some of his ideas. Nate is an interesting guy. For someone that has been judged so often over the course of his early life, he's quick to form an opinion of Kara that could not be further from the truth. It doesn't take much time for Briar Creek to work its magic on him, and, soon enough, Nate is finding that things are not necessarily as he thought. And when a friendly competition gets thrown into the mix, Nate and Kara will both be changed in more ways than they could have imagined. CHRISTMAS COMES TO MAIN STREET is my first visit to Briar Creek, but it will not be my last. The characters, the small-town charm, the sense of family that is present throughout, makes this a series that I would like to see more of. 4 heartwarming, feel-good stars for this read. It's time to start getting in the spirit, so add it to your TBR, grab your hot beverage of choice, and enjoy.

....a tempting treat for any sweet tooth.

Anything he can do, I can do better ... With a business to run, Kara has no time for arrogant and infuriating distractions. Her pride won't allow her to surrender to self-doubt or ask for help. It certainly won't allow her to be bested by an outsider with a superiority complex. Nate has a massive ego and rather large chip on his shoulder. Olivia Miles, generates major sparks with Christmas Comes to Main Street. A battle of the sexes mixed in with loveable holiday charm makes Kara and Nate, a tempting treat for any sweet tooth. Briar Creek is a great place to spend some down time.
