    A new Christmas tradition

A new Christmas tradition Seeing this title was a dream come true for me. Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) - our favourite shopaholic - and Christmas in the same sentence! I couldn't wait to read this book. I love anything Sophie Kinsella writes, Becky is one of my favourite characters ever, so I knew it would be good; Ms. Kinsella hasn't let me down yet. What I did not expect was that CHRISTMAS SHOPAHOLIC would be that fabulous! CHRISTMAS SHOPAHOLIC should be mandatory reading for any author who aspires to write a great romcom. Becky has always been an over-the-top character, yet every one of us will see a bit of ourselves in this book. Who hasn't freaked out around the holidays? Minnie - Becky's and her husband Luke's daughter - is no plot moppet, and a habit of hers is the cause of a hilarious plot twist, which I never saw coming. The same goes for Becky's old university boyfriend; talk about unexpected turns of events! Becky is a trifle more careful with her spending. More discerning. Sometimes. Not that often, but she tries, honestly she does! But with having to plan Christmas day, well, there's the food - let's not forget Becky's sister who is vegan and against consumerism. The decorations, the tree: ethical? Local? Trendy? There's so much shopping to do! The quest for the perfect presents for Minnie and particularly Luke proves to be exceedingly challenging for Becky to the reader's utter and complete delight. CHRISTMAS SHOPAHOLIC had me laughing from page one, had me laughing throughout, and also made me shed a tear or two. There is not one boring paragraph in the whole book; it's witty, ingenious, amazingly well plotted, there is tension, emotion; it's simply fabulous. CHRISTMAS SHOPAHOLIC was everything I hoped for and so much more. If you've ever read any Shopaholic books, you will want to read this one. If you never have, start here, you will not regret it because it is a great Christmas story as well!

    As good as ever

I've been reading this series since it's inception and I have to say that I'm glad it's back on track. The two previous Shopaholic books were not my most favourite and I feel like this Christmas edition has looped back around to the great comfort reads I'm used to. Becky is as incorrigable as she has always been with the added bonus of the best time of year! I docked a star because Jess was really annoying and I did not enjoy her story until the tail end.

Better than the other recent shopoholic books

A cute holiday read. Had some funny parts and some parts that were sooo shopoholic. It was much better than her most recent shopoholic books.

    Will she ever gr0w up?!?

I used to love the shopaholic books. Becky was endearingly flaky, loveable and determined but isn't it time she grew up a litttle? The compulsive lying, manipulation and painful insecurities are well past there expiration date. Shopaholics series has gone about three books too far.

Are you ready for a big belly laugh?

This book is the perfect read both for fans of the Shopaholic series or for standalone holiday fiction. Becky Brandon, nee Bloomwood, is given the task of hosting Christmas for the very first time for a group of family and friends. In true Becky style, nothing is straight-forward or easy, but instead full of challenges and getting in way over her head. The “perfect” Christmas is never easy, but the antics of Mrs Brandon make for a lot of belly laughs and OMG’s! From trying to join an All Men’s Club in order to win the perfect gift for her husband Luke, to trying to create her own Vegan Turkey, this book had me laughing like only Becky can. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good comedy or feels stressed preparing for Christmas. A definite 5 star read! Thank you to Random House Publishing Group and Netgalley for the opportunity to read an ARC of this book in exchange for the honest review provided here.
