    A new Christmas tradition

A new Christmas tradition Seeing this title was a dream come true for me. Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) - our favourite shopaholic - and Christmas in the same sentence! I couldn't wait to read this book. I love anything Sophie Kinsella writes, Becky is one of my favourite characters ever, so I knew it would be good; Ms. Kinsella hasn't let me down yet. What I did not expect was that CHRISTMAS SHOPAHOLIC would be that fabulous! CHRISTMAS SHOPAHOLIC should be mandatory reading for any author who aspires to write a great romcom. Becky has always been an over-the-top character, yet every one of us will see a bit of ourselves in this book. Who hasn't freaked out around the holidays? Minnie - Becky's and her husband Luke's daughter - is no plot moppet, and a habit of hers is the cause of a hilarious plot twist, which I never saw coming. The same goes for Becky's old university boyfriend; talk about unexpected turns of events! Becky is a trifle more careful with her spending. More discerning. Sometimes. Not that often, but she tries, honestly she does! But with having to plan Christmas day, well, there's the food - let's not forget Becky's sister who is vegan and against consumerism. The decorations, the tree: ethical? Local? Trendy? There's so much shopping to do! The quest for the perfect presents for Minnie and particularly Luke proves to be exceedingly challenging for Becky to the reader's utter and complete delight. CHRISTMAS SHOPAHOLIC had me laughing from page one, had me laughing throughout, and also made me shed a tear or two. There is not one boring paragraph in the whole book; it's witty, ingenious, amazingly well plotted, there is tension, emotion; it's simply fabulous. CHRISTMAS SHOPAHOLIC was everything I hoped for and so much more. If you've ever read any Shopaholic books, you will want to read this one. If you never have, start here, you will not regret it because it is a great Christmas story as well!

    Delightfully Charming and Funny

I received an ARC of this book to read in exchange for a fair review. Christmas Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella is the 9th book in her entertaining Shopaholic series. It can be read as a stand-alone but I think you will enjoy it more if you have read the rest of the series. Becky Brandon nee Bloomwood is back and once again shopping up a storm. In this story her parents move to a trendy flat in Shoreditch and its up to Becky to host the family Christmas for the first time. For Becky planning the perfect family Christmas and finding just the right presents for everyone as well as dealing with an ex-boyfriend who’s now a rockstar guarantees that both chaos and hilarity will ensue, her attempts at a vegan turkey will have you in stitches. Delightfully charming and full of the joys of the season I enjoyed revisiting Becky and family once more and recommend the story highly. Loved this Christmas read!

I was so excited to see there was going to be another Shopaholic book. I absolutely love this series. This story lived up to my expectations. It was hysterical! Becky is hosting Christmas for the first time ever, and Becky being Becky, things don't go smoothly. This book could be read as a standalone, but I think you would understand Becky much better if you've already read the series. I have missed Becky and the gang so much so this story was a real gift. If you are feeling frazzled during the holidays, read this book and relax! Thank you to Netgalley and Random House Publishing for the ARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

    The Best Shopaholic Ever

I just feel as if I ran a marathon. I love entering the unpredictable world of Becky Brandon, nee Bloomwood. There is nothing so simple that Becky can't make wildly disastrous yet ultimately wonderful. She is the quirky friend we all wish we could have. Be prepared for a whirlwind adventure from the very first page. Becky's mother is asking her to host her first Christmas. Of course Becky always veers from her original ideas and they snowball until her planned event turns into a free for all. Becky has a tremendous heart and in her attempt to please everyone for the holidays from her best friend Suze to her vegan non commercial sister, poor Becky is caught in a mass of holiday mishaps. If I could pick a favorite Shopaholics book this would be it, hands down. This story had me bursting out laughing and at times crying. For goodness sake Ms. Kinsella, you had me laughing and crying at the same time! The crying was the good kind. Becky has truly evolved into an even more special person than in the past. You have to look beyond her commercial impulses to find a genuinely lovely and huge hearted woman that despite her sometimes flakey behaviors is really quite wise. I loved the family dynamics and Luke and Becky appear closer than ever. There is a wonderful plot that is interspersed with numerous side shows that explode like fireworks. If you are looking for that special holiday novel that makes you feel alive and eager to embrace the season please, please, please grab a copy of this brilliant delight. The most gripping and tender moment of the story was literally the last line. No spoilers here, you will have to trust me that this book will be perfect and leave you with a gigantic smile on your face

Are you ready for a big belly laugh?

This book is the perfect read both for fans of the Shopaholic series or for standalone holiday fiction. Becky Brandon, nee Bloomwood, is given the task of hosting Christmas for the very first time for a group of family and friends. In true Becky style, nothing is straight-forward or easy, but instead full of challenges and getting in way over her head. The “perfect” Christmas is never easy, but the antics of Mrs Brandon make for a lot of belly laughs and OMG’s! From trying to join an All Men’s Club in order to win the perfect gift for her husband Luke, to trying to create her own Vegan Turkey, this book had me laughing like only Becky can. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good comedy or feels stressed preparing for Christmas. A definite 5 star read! Thank you to Random House Publishing Group and Netgalley for the opportunity to read an ARC of this book in exchange for the honest review provided here.
