    Thanks for your feedback!

As this is part of a series I already had a strong suspicion about which couple's story this novel was going to be following. And Ms Larkin confirms it straight away in a preface that appears at the beginning of the free preview that I always check out first before purchasing a book. I've never before encountered a same sex romance in an historical context except as a sub plot. I really enjoyed this one. It reminded me of how very hard it must have been to be gay in a culture where being found out could and did sometimes end in death and frequently ended in social ruin. Yet a great many people must have been quietly aware of the strong 'special friendship' between various of their friends and family and chosen not to talk publicly. Both Tom and Lucas are emotionally believable characters. I would love to meet them in real life! Definitely a keeper. I've already read it twice :)
