Book #3, Barbarian Mates series, by Sue Lyndon

SPOILER ALERT: THIS IS THE THIRD BOOK IN THIS SERIES. IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE PRIOR TWO BOOKS, PLEASE DON'T READ THIS REVIEW AS IT MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS. Life in Ava's world is far from easy. Humans once ruled the world. but no longer. Reduced to isolated villages, dwindling numbers, and turning inward, the men have grown power-hungry and cruel. Ava's a slave dreaming of freedom. The stories of nightmare creatures and alien races in the forest are just tales to frighten people, right? Can there truly be things worse than her daily existence? Apparently so! When her master finds evidence of her plans to escape, she's ripped from her life and tossed on the auction block. Ava's life just went from bad to horrific! Jaxon's a Banded male patrolling the outskirts of the human villages. Why does he stop when he hears the commotion in the human village? The Banded avoid humans like the plague. There's nothing to interest him here. Or is there? He feels an irresistible pull, and steps toward the auction block. What he sees enchants him. The little human female is so enticing. The Banded don't believe in slavery but he can't stop himself. Soon he's the owner of one very stubborn, albeit frightened, human slave. But what's he to do with her? He's no use for a slave. Maybe a paid servant? She's so small, delicate, fragile. And his feelings and emotions tell him she's never going to be a servant. Can he remotely consider the possibility of mating with this little enchantress? His twin brother, Wolfe, will have to agree. That's the Banded way. As Ava and Jaxon come to an uneasy truce, Wolfe's soon also affected by the little slave. It seems the Goddess has finally found the twins' fated mate, and she's a human! She's also no pushover. As the triad attempts to move past their cultural and lifestyle differences, events spin out of control. Ava's difficulty adapting to Banded customs is unacceptable. And danger from unknown sources soon literally arrives at the twins' front door. What can they do? Who would be willing to attack the Banded? They're ferocious, battle-hardened warriors. Although she doesn't admit it, Ava is the twins' mate. The Banded protect their women at all costs. And it's not just Jaxon, Wolfe, and Ava at risk. The twins' mother, both fathers, and other Banded settlements are in peril as well. Will the Banded be able to pull their forces together in time to stop the invaders? What will be the cost? Who will live? The better question is will Ava learn that she loves the Banded twins too late? Or will she be able to pull off a miracle and help save all? Ultimately, can Ava make the decision that will change her life permanently, or will she lose Jaxon and Wolfe forever? Sue Lyndon is another new author for me. She's written a very unique and captivating series, and this third installment is incredible. The whole world Ms. Lyndon's created is fascinating. It has a post-apocalyptic feel to it with elements of the supernatural and paranormal woven intricately into the storyline. The twin relationship between Jaxon and Wolfe and the entire Banded culture are fascinating. The relationship between Ava, Jaxon, and Wolfe is the driving force behind this story and is very compelling! I felt every moment of desperation, fear, terror, and heartbreak, as well as the hope, tenderness, joy, wonder, and love between these three. While the story is obviously fictional, it's also captivating. I was hooked from the moment I started reading! Sue Lyndon has become yet another favorite author. This book is a perfect mix of paranormal, post-apocalyptic, and magical elements that's captivating from the first to the last page. I give Claiming Their Slave five stars. It's truly a remarkable story. Thank you, Ms. Lyndon, for writing such a magical story! One final note. Please be an informed reader and consumer! This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language and sexual scenes. If you don't enjoy this genre, think hard before buying any book you know you won't enjoy. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and all booksellers' websites. Use these resources DON'T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON'T ENJOY THE BOOK. It's not fair to the author. She works extremely hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you'll object to the book's subject matter before you buy it, you're doing yourself and the author an extreme disservice. Thanks for reading my review and happy reading!
