  • History richly researched and compellingly written

Wonderfully written, with fascinating facts and a riveting story line. Mythical characters brought to life and the real Cleopatra revealed. A great read!

  • Cleopatra stacy schiff

I thought the author deserves alot of credit for how much research that she did. I was especially surprised at the decadent feast antony and cleopatra had on a boat and the rothchild parties. It was nice getting lost in ancient eygpt.

  • Cleopatra

Boring! Reads too much like a history book. Had hoped for more. I didn't even finish the first chapter. Would love to get my money back.

  • Have a Dictionary nearby!

Talk about a laborious read! I consider myself to be a fairly good Wordsmith. Rarely do I have to look up words when I'm reading a book. Thank goodness I use an eReader with a dictionary! I found myself having to look up words on almost every page. This author went out of her way to find weird and obscure words to describe everyday things. For example instead of using the word "fire," she used "Conflagration." The really sad and frustrating part is that many times when I looked up a word, by definition it made no sense in the context it was being used in the sentence. 🙄 The story itself was interesting, but it was ruined by the Author's need to demonstrate how uber smart she is! Here are a few words that I kept track of from the first 10 pages or so. There are literally dozens, possibly hundreds more! Spurious Tendentious Erudition Polemicists Obstreperous

    Thanks for your feedback!
