    Emotionally Gripping & Suspenseful Romance

4.5 stars This was a thrilling and suspenseful read, with a perfect slow burn forbidden romance. You will fall in love with the characters and get wrapped up in the mystery. It definitely had me guessing and on the edge of my seat until the end. The story is told from Daniel and Allison's points of views. I loved that they were both beautifully broken and imperfect people, trying to heal and move forward. Their chemistry was amazing from the start, but it was the time spent nurturing their friendship, the stolen glances, and the tender, reassuring touches that really made their romance shine. The build up definitely made the reward that much sweeter and meaningful. Come Closer deals with the subjects of mental health, loss, and addiction in such a heartfelt and honest way. First hand knowledge isn't needed to sense and experience the emotions our characters are feeling. It's a true testament to the superb writing and storytelling when you can evoke such emotion from your reader. I did feel that the last few chapters felt a little rushed compared to the others, but I understand that the story was paced this way to allow the relationship between Daniel and Allison to grow and unfold. Come Closer is honestly a book best enjoyed if you go in blind. Do yourself a favor and don't go looking for spoilers. Just let the story and characters take you on a ride you won't soon forget. *I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.*

    A Suspenseful and Action-Packed Read

It was easy to get lost in this book. I mean, really, first page, and I was gone. I have always appreciated and enjoyed author Brenda Rothert. She's the mistress of a hot hockey read, which I love (Ryke forever!), but has recently stepped out into more of what I'd call romantic intrigue or suspense, and she is absolutely rocking it. First, there was HIS, which I picked up and could not put down. It was a great read, and I was excited to see that COME CLOSER would be a little bit different, as well. Brenda has written a book that I tore through because I couldn't wait to see what the heck would happen next, and that I couldn't wait to tell other readers about. One of my favorite things about this book is the characters that Brenda has written. Doctor Daniel Delgado is a flawed man, but he's self-aware and stronger because of it. His humanity and humility shine through in everything that he does, and make him the perfect doctor for the patients at Hawthorne Hill, including Allison Cole. His ability to meet Allison exactly where she is, and to gain her trust, sets the stage for this different, engaging, action-packed, intriguing gem of a book that will keep you guessing and on the edge of your seat until the very last. COME CLOSER is full of twists and turns, and best read with no pre-conceived notions or clues, so I don't want to give anything away, but believe me when I say that you want to read this book. It's an easy 4.75 stars for me, and one that I happily recommend. You need it on your TBR right now; it's that good. Enjoy.

    Fantastic

Daniel Delgado works in a mental hospital as the head doctor. One day a woman named Allison is admitted and isn't speaking. Allison witnessed her twin sister Ava being murdered. She is the only person who can shed some light on what happened to her and her sister. Daniel is attracted to her, but knows he can't act on it. He tries communicating with her until one day she starts using a white board to communicate with only him. I can't say too much about the story without giving anything away, but I definitely recommend everyone read it. Come Closer is romantic suspense and I loved every page of it!

Just one-click, don't give it a second thought.

Wow! This book caught me completely off guard. I did not expect it to go that route at all. And the whole storyline, that plot was completely unexpected. I have just one word to describe it. FANTASTIC! I would have liked to do a longer review for this FANTASTIC book. But I don't think I could do it justice. It simply must be read for you to enjoy the full experience. As with all of Brenda's books, situations and issues are as close as one could get to reality. It's never all roses and rainbows but hardcore, in your face, kicks you in the butt scenarios that will leave you reeling. But Brenda's books also guarantee a happy ending which makes them worth every penny. I received an Advanced Reader's Copy from the author for voluntary review consideration.

The Story that Grabs You and Doesn't Let GO

Here is me: "Oh look Brenda Rothert has a new book. She's a favorite. I love her storytelling.Jake and Miranda from Hooked are a big favorite. This will be nice. The H and h are a little bit broken. Oh, the H is sexy in a manly, outdoorsy way. Let's read..." -Kindle left hook to the temple- "Okay, that was unexpected. Maybe I should re-read those paragraphs..." -Kindle right hook to the opposite temple- "HOLD UP! What did I just read?" -insert evil author laugh and Kindle for the upper cut- "WHAT DID SHE JUST WRITE?!?!" See the grey matter all over the floor? That's my brain because Brenda Rothert has just... BLOWN MY MIND! IN THE BEST POSSIBLE SHOUTY CAPS WAY! I absolutely love Ms Rothert's storytelling. I know when I One Click on her books I will be entertained. But what I love more is when authors I adore flip me on my head and take me to unexpected places. THIS IS THAT STORY. That's all I can tell you about it, It's a tight lipped journey that I will bully all my book buddies into reading because if I could give this more stars I would. Read this because you need to get out of your tightly held contemporary romance box, and sleeping is highly overrated as you WILL finish this in one sitting.
