    Cleansing

The tone and apathy that Kimberly shows is both captivating and raw. A beautiful piece of writing about her life of mess and chaos.

    Educational and heart wrenching

This story sensitively exposes how an innocent child survives the hoarding lifestyle of her parents. Kimberly Miller never doubted her parents love as they are always very kind and loving but they imposed an uncontrollable and stressful lifestyle on their daughter. Her childhood living conditions still haunt her in adulthood with nightmares and an obsession for cleanliness in her own home. Kimberly was living in hoarder conditions long before the popular Hoarder TV show was created. This well written book reveals the inner strength this very strong little girl needed to survive the impact of living with hoarder parents. Kimberly now takes care of her parents with unconditional love.

I found this a fascinating read on so many levels. First to understand what it was like for a child to deal with the chaos resulting from hoarder parents. Then to glimpse the logic of the hoarders themselves. The book is an honesty depiction , but without bitterness. For sure the author was frustrated and even ashamed of the actions of her parents, but amazingly still respectful in her story of her home life. I don't generally find memoirs to be page turners but I must admit I couldn't put this one down.
