  • YA Novel With Graphic Sex

The book is written in a way that feels like a YA novel trying to be for adults. The main character is dealing with grief and lashing out, not able to cope with losing her loving parents; good. Main character then meets a boy and suddenly experiences sexual attraction for the first time; little weird, but ok. Main character loses all her bite and becomes docile and a slave to her attraction around the boy; annoying and painfully common, ew. Boy has been watching her her whole life and has been attracted to her since she was 16, also the boy is 80, also the boy wants to be mates, and this is weakly addressed and then immediately dismissed for an entire chapter of graphic sex; Need I explain why this is bad? This feels like a boom with a bland protagonist youre supposed to project on aimed at younger audiences with less life experience and critical thinking and reading comprehension. That's shattered by again, a full chapter of graphic sex. The characters are bland and one note, sometimes half a note, and the plot is all setup. Cringy exposition dump straight out of deviant art about the main character being part fae part vampire part werewolf child of two super spys who died when she was young, and the book overall is just a weak waste of time.
