Superb edition of classic Arthurian work

If you want an ebook edition of Malory, this is the one to get. It contains one text in the original spelling, which is not too difficult for modern readers, and another modernised. Malory distilled the essence of what were extremely long previous accounts, mainly in French, of the stories surrounding King Arthur and the legend of Tristan and Isolde. The work reflects the values of a medieval military society slightly softened by Catholicism and by the ethos of what was known as courtly love, in which a knight would serve and honour a lady. The best sections of the book, in my view, are those dealing with Tristan and with the death of Arthur. The book should be compulsory reading for anyone interested in the Arthurian legends.
