  • Mind officially blown

Mind officially blown, Bethany Kris has done it again, while her genre is Mafia she went outside the box with this fresh, sexy suspenseful story.

  • I loved it.

First do all I am going to say please be careful reading reviews or even tags connected to reviews if you want to enjoy this book to the fullest, you don't want to spoil it. This book is a bit different to the authors usual work. The 2 main characters, the Hero, Sargon and the heroine, Cozen are on the outside of the Mafia family. He is a bodyguard and she is hired to steal an item. So there is Mafia politics involved but we see things from the outskirts. We are introduced to the Astor family. These are excellent secondary characters that sparked my interest for future stories though this book is a standalone. cozen meaning...... ˈ trick or deceive. "do not think to cozen your contemporaries" obtain by deception. "he was able to cozen a profit". Sargon Makri and Cozen. Both are interesting characters. They have complicated pasts and reasons for annonimity. There is a lot going on in this book and Cozen's work is to integrate herself in to the job so she is in for the long con to avoid suspicion and getting caught rather than a quick snatch and grab. As a result the story is detailed and the clues are there if you take notice you may get the full story.... Or maybe not. You will understand by the end. Cozen integrates herself into the life of the target to achieve her successful con so as a result although the love interest in Sargon, her target is Sargon's boss, so some readers who are sensitive to 'cheating' may have an issue with this. BK doesn't generally write about cheating relationships and there are no intimate scenes between Cozen other than with Sargon but she does flirt and have a certain amount of physical contact with her target so some may find this uncomfortable depending on where you draw the line on cheating. She does this as part of her job and part of drawing her target into the con. This is a whole new world you can get lost in, the descriptions and writing is beautifully done. Loved the ending.

  • One of the best heist novels I have read!

Cozen is her name and she's a professional thief. From that name alone, it almost sounds like her life is predetermined, right? Until she met Sargon Makri, the enigmatic man who added just a little bit of danger and excitement in her already complicated life of thievery. I love how Bethany-Kris had woven a thrilling plotline that I felt like I was watching a heist movie rather than reading it. No matter how complicated the job gets, these two finds a way back into each others arms. But what absolutely floored me in this book was that "plot twist!" I totally didn't expect THAT to happen. But you have to read it to find out. Otherwise, where's the fun in that? This book will definitely keep you on your toes and you'll never guess what will happen next but you will absolutely love it. :)
