This book surprised me. I was expecting more of a thriller, but it turned out to be a Dystopia. I quite liked it. While it’s pretty much impossible to be completely unique in the Dystopian genre, this book does have unique qualities and it was able to surprise me at the end. Honestly, when I was almost done the book, I thought I knew how it was going to end (more or less) and I was disappointed with where it was going. I was already thinking about how I would have to say I didn’t like the ending in my review. However, the book went a different way and I was delighted that it did. This book leaves the reader wanting more. I was left thinking there must be a sequel, but it seems to just be a standalone. It really bothers me when books have chapters end in the middle of a conversation. I get why the author does this – to create suspense – but I just find it annoying. This book has extremely short chapters, which I don’t mind, but all the more reason to continue the chapter at least until the conversation is over. What if I want to put the book down at the end of the chapter to go do something else? I have to remember the question that was just asked so that the book makes sense when I come back to it? How aggravating. The book is 296 pages long and has 113 chapters! I couldn’t tell that this book was written by two authors. There is no clear switch from one author’s writing style to the other. They did a good job of this. I didn’t care for the romance in this book. Both of the girls’ love interests just weren’t doing it for me. I felt like Becca and Tim just kind of unexpectedly kissed one day in order to console each other from their situation, but then suddenly they are mad about each other. Cassie and Nate happened in an unsatisfactory way as well. They didn’t really have any build-up to their relationship either and it just felt dull. I wasn’t able to get into either of them, which is always disappointing.

    Good book!

When you first start to read the book, you wonder what's going on but by then you are already hooked!! And when you get to the end you'll have so many twists and turns, you'll be completely surprised at the end!!

A book that I could not put down.

I really enjoyed the story and was sad when it was over. I think it is set up to have a sequel and I look forward to that. There were similarities to The Hunger Games. Anyone who enjoyed those books will enjoy this.

    Generic teen fodder

There are a lot of well written - or at least entertaining - young adult novels out there. This was by far the most generic and least interesting I have read in a long time. The characters are two dimensional and bland. The setting is uninteresting. The adversity faced attempts to channel a "Hunger Games" like challenge but falls far short.
