Beautifully written and worthy to read

Disclaimer: I was given the opportunity to read this book for posting an honest review. Creeping Beautiful is written differently to J. A. Huss usual style, showing a maturity as a writer, but it’s easy to follow, intriguing and refreshing as well. Don’t get me wrong in thinking her other books are below par, because they aren’t, and I would know because I have read them all, and give 5 stars to all of them. Within the pages you will find beautiful metaphors crafted so brilliantly they leave an imprint on your mind, immersing you into the novels mysterious and unconventional world, and she does this by equally balancing the characters as they mature and evolve through the book. Indie is the central character. We learn she is full of contradictions. She can be wild and calm. And she can be calm within chaos. She was purchased by Adam when she was 10, and he protected her. His best friend McKay raised her and trained her, and their friend Donavon counselled her. These three men spent the next 14 years devoted to her. We learn that something happened in Santa Barbara, before this novel begins, and that the three men had a part in its demise. Their world has no room for ethics or moral code, but do they begin to question if their raising of Indie was the right choice considering her ‘condition’ ? Do they become remorseful of the things they made her do and the things that were done to her? Their world is dark, and unforgiving. They and others are a part of a pseudo government, where intrigue, lies, betrayals, secrets, and psyops are just the everyday norm. Sprinkled throughout we learn something terrible happened to Indie on her twentieth birthday that induced traumatised amnesia. To unravel this Creeping Beautiful flits between the now and then. The then starts 14 years prior and weaves it’s way beautifully through the novel to the now, showing us how the main characters developed over time and their relations with each other, and with Indie, and Indie with them. There is a secret that everyone but Indi knows. A secret that has people on a knifes edge should she find out. We know Adam, McKay and Donavon are privy to that secret, but are they holding secrets from each other? And to further complicate matters, Indie loves the boy next door, stressing an already difficult family structure. I love this book so much I’m reading it for a second time. It’s the first in its own series. Huss has been able to weave and connect this book to the Rook and Ronin series and their spin offs, and to the Come series with my all time favourite mad and bad anti hero James Fenichi and his wife Harper. Huss did this so expertly that you don’t need to read the other books to know what has happened or is happening to impact on Creeping Beautiful as she gives you all the crumbs that you need to know.

So Twisted, Messed Up But Beautifully Broken

Whoa! So twisted, messed up but beautiful broken people. I honestly didn’t quite know where this story was going at times because these clever twists would pop up out of nowhere. None of the people are what I’d label as a “reliable narrator” so just when you think you have a truth you can throw into your memory bank...bam! No...that’s not really what happened. I enjoyed the secrets and the Company and the missions that go on behind the scenes. The storyline was amazing and intriguing. This first part was unraveling where everything took a sharp turn and went wrong. I definitely had some guesses and some were right and some were a little off base since I was led awry. But it was so fun to figure out a little tiny bit of what was really going on. Great read.

One of the Best Books I’ve Read in Years!

Creeping Beautiful is not the kind of book you simply read. You experience it. You live it. This story and these characters will burrow under your skin and embed themselves in your soul… and you will welcome it. This is a book that stays with you long after you’ve finished reading it. It’s intense and engaging and thoughtful and absolutely riveting. It is heartbreaking and hopeful all at once. It will you leave you emotionally wrung out and reeling, and so happy for the experience. You don’t need to have read any of JA Huss’s previous books to become thoroughly immersed in this one. Although you may find yourself drawn to her previous books after you’ve read this one, and that can only mean good things for you. I, myself, am a long-time reader and admirer of JA Huss’s work, so you’d think I’d be used to the dark and twisty by now… but there is no preparing for Creeping Beautiful. What I wouldn’t give to live in JA Huss’s mind for just one day! Although, I’m not at all sure my psyche is prepared for such an experience. Machiavelli has nothing on you, Ms. Huss. Lucky for us, you choose to use your powers for good, which translates to hours of enjoyment for your readers. I honestly cannot recommend this book highly enough, and I will be counting the days for the next book in this masterful and compelling series. * I was given an ARC of this book and voluntarily chose to review. All of my opinions are honest and entirely my own. Men of Elite Metal review: The Men of Elite Metal is a compelling book featuring three of the bravest and sexiest men of the Elite Metal team—Platinum, Zinc, and Francium. The intriguing plots coupled with the fascinating and wonderfully complex characters will draw you right into the action. These stories have everything you could possibly want in a book: romance, intrigue, action, loyalty, and of course, love. They showcase the power of true love and what it can overcome, and prove even tough guys have a heart. I read the original three anthologies, and these particular stories by Rebecca Royce were definitely among my favorites… then and now. Nothing wrong with a little hero worship, or with fantasies of a slightly more personal form of worship… and The Men of Elite Metal is sure to inspire plenty of both. *I was given an ARC of this book by the authors and voluntarily chose to review. All opinions are my own.

Wonderful Book About the Craziness Love Can Bring

Creeping Beautiful is so well written that you are invested in all the characters before you even realize it. Donovan, Adam, McCay, Nathan, and Indie creep into your heart. The book is beautifully written. The plot slowly reveals itself in little nuggets of heart stopping action. I couldn't put it down. I read the whole thing in one night. I didn't sleep. I honestly don't know how I'll last until the rest of the series comes out. I'm trying to convince myself I have enough money to buy everything J.A. Huss has ever written. It's that good of a book. It's tragic, heart stopping, beautiful, romantic, infuriating all at once. It's everything a book like this should be. Every detail has been thought out...every detail. A total 5 out of 5 for me. Triggers: Teen pregnancy, death, violence I received this story in exchange for an honest review.

    Perfection

Whew....this book, I liked, no loved, it from the beginning. There are twists, turns, lies, secrets, and more. I was reading so fast I was afraid I was missing words! I love how this is written and that while other people from other books are mentioned, you absolutely do not need to read those to read this. It is perfection. I want to jump in the mind that is the genius of this author.
