Crossing Hudson, The Guardians, #2 by Mandy M Roth

I was recently asked to name my favorite Mandy Roth book. I can only answer by saying the one I'm reading. Each time I think I have a favorite I read a new book and can't decide. One thing I do know--each book will be a winner. Crossing Hudson is no exception. I loved book one where Maddie gets her man. In book 2, Ryan has given up getting her man. For her it is more than heart break or a yearning for love and family--it is life it self. Yes, Ryan is the chosen one to be a mate to the head guardian and keep him from the dark side, but he has not come to her so she can do what was intended. Hudson is sent to protect Ryan from the hoard of evil after her. Neither is happy with the situation, until Hudson realizes who Ryan is to him. He can't tell her, and not only is he fighting those who would harm her, he is fighting her. She is independent and determined she can do it herself. While she is strong and fierce the evil after her is powerful and more than any one can handle. Can Hudson save and protect her? How can they get over the past that has hurt them both and the interference from the Powers That Be? She has a group of loyal, kick butt friends who fight as well. Will they allow anyone close to Ryan? The relationships are touching and sometimes funny and snarky but always loyal and people you'd want around you in a situation. I was provided an ARC in return for an honest review.

    "Wait? You? You’re him?” “Yes.”

WHOOOOOAA MANDY!!! WOW! I am so over run with emotions right now! This series has all but consumed me - mind, body & soul! In true Mandy fashion, she had me instantly transported into the story, living it with her characters, living it AS Ryan, from the very, very beginning, all the way past the ending! I absolutely loved The Guardians and was so disappointed when I couldn't keep reading because there wasn't any more books read! So I was beyond excited when I heard that Crossing Hudson was FINALLY going to be released! It felt like it took FOOORRR-EEEVVVERR to get into my eager little hands! WOWOHWOW!!! It was soooooo worth the wait! I decided to take the time to re-read book 1 since it had been a while since I last read it and also to ensure I was completely up-to-speed on the people & their situations. OK OK! I just really, Really, REALLY wanted to read The Guardians again! I still cannot believe just how connected I am to the characters! But since I bawled so much through both books, it is pointless to assume otherwise! I don't know if I can find the words to describe just how PAWESOME, how FANGTASTIC and just how MAGICALLY DELICIOUS this story & series truly is!! There is lots of action, romance, friendship, humor, heartbreak, pain, irony, mystery and adorableness all impeccably & beautifully entwined together to create these multi-dimensional characters, with magical & captivating story lines & plots as well as the series as a whole, which all combine to keep you spellbound and consumed from beginning to end, all the way down to the very depths of your soul! After reading both books, I re-read the last part of The Guardians where all of the revelations are well, revealed, where Maddie finds out… secrets (in case you haven’t read it yet) at least 6 times now! And then after finishing Crossing Hudson I just couldn't start any other book! Nothing interested me! I am completely, utterly & wholly consumed & obsessed with this series!! It's like this series has ruined me for all other books! It's all I think of, each time I go to start a new book, I just can't!! I have read this book in its entirety 3 times, and the last half of it at least 8 times now! Of course, if you are already familiar with Mandy's books, then you also already know that this is held true for all of her stories! However, this Guardians series touches me even deeper than usual! I love the world that Mandy has created, her characters are multidimensional making them more real & life-like, hence the soul deep connection to them, enabling me to live their story AS them! Only one other series of Mandy's has managed to do this to me on such deep levels, which also happens to be the first series of hers I read - Daughter of Darkness! And is still to this very day something I am ALWAYS thinking of!! I almost "judge" other books against D of D, and while I know it isn't fair, I just can't help it! Mandy set the bar very high with both that series and now this one as well! When reading MANDY-TACULAR stories like this one (and all of her other books), that have me LIVING the book as the characters, it's hard to remember that even though they feel like real life friends, they are only alive in my head & my heart because my real life hero CREATED them that way! To be able to do all of that, and do it so perfectly, time and again, takes a truly, astronomically talented author who is also massively & genuinely gifted. Translated that can only be one author = MANDY M. ROTH! So, all in all - run your little fingers on over to your ebook store of choice and get this series NOW!! It truly is THAT GUARDIANTACULAR!! It truly is THAT MANDYRRIFIC!! It truly is THAT ROTHTASTIC!!

    Crossing Hudson by Mandy Roth

5 Stars  ☆☆☆☆☆ Title: Crossing Hudson The Guardians Book Two Author: Mandy M. Roth Reviewer: Stephanie Jordan #Paranormal  #Romance #Guardian ☆○☆○☆○☆○☆○☆○☆○☆○☆○☆○☆○☆○☆○☆ Every time I start to read Mandy M. Roth  books I always think how can she out beat her last one but she always does. This book is the #2 The Guardian and I love it. Ms. Roth never lets me down. The "Powers That Be" are very cruel they decide what journey you will go on or they can keep Mates apart. They can punish you so that you forget something so beautiful many people would give there to soul to have but you forgot it all. Maryann Ryan Mackenzie (Ry-Mack to her mate) is a slayer, well to be honest she was not meant to be a slayer her twin sister was, Ryan was meant to be the light to her mate. Eliza was the slayer before she died. Alpha Lycan Shifter Hudson Carver (Cowboy to his mate) can't believe his new assignment is to be a babysitter. I mean he's a Guardian not a babysitter. There is a lot of twists and turns in this book but eventually it turns out to be HEA. I was gifted this ARC for an honest and truthful review.

    Awesome story with powerful emotions

This well written book has such powerful set of emotions that run through all of them from happy to sad, love and hate, funny and so much more. The interference of the powers to be and the fact that they can’t always stop what is meant to be. This is a self-contained story and yet part of a series. It’s extremely well written and very entertaining to read. This is so good that it will capture your attention and keep it until the very end and then just make you want more.

Love 1 - Powers That Be 0. I absolutely loved it.

I waited a long time for this book and I wasn't disappointed. It has everything you could want and I absolutely loved it. The totally gripping 'Crossing Hudson' is the long awaited second book in Mandy Roth's Guardians series and I was given a copy by the author in exchange for an honest review. I love Mandy's books, she's one of my favourite authors and I've waited a long time for this book to come out. I couldn't wait to start reading it and I wasn't disappointed in any way. This action packed paranormal romance had me hooked and on the edge of my seat from beginning to end and I really didn't want to put it down. I know it's not logical, but reading this book was a lot like when you're watching a really great movie and being afraid to take a break in case you miss something while you're gone. Yes, it was one of those. This is a full length novel and took me a couple of days to read, but it was the first thing I reached for in the morning and the last thing I let go of at night until I got to the end. Then I wanted to read it again. I absolutely loved it and now I can't wait for the next one in this fantastic series. Maryann 'Ryan' Mackenzie has had a short but very painful life. Born to be the 'Blessed One', mate to the One, the supreme alpha, the light to combat his dark, hunted by demons and watched over by a Guardian all her life because the 'Powers that be' are terrified of how powerful the two mates would be together. They decided on a date the two would meet for the first time, but things didn't quite work out that way. They met two months early and started the claiming ritual, but then had to part in a hurry before the 'Powers' came to kill her. She's walked in his life since she was a child, but she doesn't know what he looks like, she calls him 'Cowboy' and needs to draw on his life energy through their link in order to live and he knows she's there, like a ghost, and what she is to him, but after they had to part on the day they met, he forgot about her, nearly completely closing their link and proposed to someone else. The same someone else he was with on the day they were destined to meet.... Three years later, Werewolf and Guardian Hudson Carver has been sent to protect someone, well, two someones really, but he has no idea who they are. Only that the guy's name is Ryan. He's sure he knows the slayer he meets when he arrives, but can't place her. He's drawn to her like no other and decides she will be his, but the revelations to come are mind numbing for everyone... I absolutely loved this book and I could go on and on about it, but I have to stop there. I really don't want to give spoilers, but it's hard not to. There's so much story packed into this book that it's difficult to say much without giving things away. Filled with terrific characters including vampires, fae, slayers, guardians, shifters and demons, I cried quite a few tears as Ryan's sad existence was revealed and I totally agree with her sister - the Powers That Be are dicks, but I love Porter and the slayers, and Ryan has someone she loves more than anything in the world to liven up her life. I cheered them on when the slayers took on the bad guys and laughed at their banter and antics. There is humour here, it wouldn't be a Mandy Roth book without it, as well as steamy bits and eventually a happily ever after, but this really is a book you need to read for yourself. It can easily be read as a stand alone, so don't worry if you haven't read the first book, 'The Guardians', and although some of the characters appear in both books, the only thing you'll miss is another fantastic story. I really can't wait to read the next one.
